i really love his show on IFC. i've always dug the guy since his black flag days, and now he's older and cooler than ever. he's really good at engaging his guests, and he does his homework. and he exudes cool.

just a really good talk show, unlike most of the network drivel out there.

I agree, I have been really impressed by his level of conversation, thus far. I liked Rollins in his day and just wanted to check out his new gig. not expecting much, but just as he brought new life to Black Flag, he is doing the same thing with his show.
By the way, I think Joan Jett is on today. I need to go look.

she was actually on last night. she was interesting to say the least. she had some good stories that are bound to spin the wheels of conspiracy theorists out there, but i like joan jett, and seeing her sitting across from henry, both all tatted up, and thinking about where they were 20 years ago and here they are discussing howard dean and iraq. they've both aged well.

i think the thing i really like and appreciate about henry is he brings a level of passion and enthusiasm that is neither contrived or scripted. he really cares about the subject matter and his guests, or they wouldn't be on the show.

I haven't seen his show, but he came to UB for a spoken word tour and it was very good. What kind of show is this?

What a coincidence you mentioning this show. I was staying in a hotel last night that had cable TV. I staggered home from a party at about 2am and put the telly on and there was Henry Rollins doing a chat show! And yes, it was a great show.

I think Rollins is too good an interviewer. Part of the appeal for me to watch the show is to see what HE has to say, and he unforuntately does a great job of letting his guests talk forever with no comment. Wish the network news guys could adopt the tactic, but for me I'm sitting there going "you're smarter than most of your guests, say things and discuss!" His musical guests are for the most part fucking righteous, though.

Funny thing about that Luke. Years ago in an interview he was asked why he writes about the things that he does, and he just simply said "because I listen". You can get much deeper truths from allowing a person to talk.
