Movember Fight!

It is almost Movember! - International Moustache Growing Month. I propose a 3 part challenge for the month:

1. Grow a moustache

2. Visit the Movember website and register, then over the course of the month do your bit to raise money and awareness for men's health issues.

3. Record a cover version of a song originally made famous by somebody with a moustache (or a song about somebody with a moustache), or write a song about moustaches

On Movember 1 - post a photo of your cleanly shaven upper lip.
On December 1 - show the mo - and post your moustache-related song.

Gentlemen, start your whiskers...

Funny! I shaved off the goatee this very morning. (I'll be spending Halloween in a Space Ghost outfit, which sort of requires a clean-shaven chin.)

So on November 1, I will be ready and willing to take up the challenge. In!

You know, it ain't that easy to grow a good moustache-- it takes more than a month to cultivate properly.

Is there a prize for the dreamiest mo?

Good enough for me, I'm in! Is there gonna be a songfight! team or should I just register as an individual?

Let's start a team I guess. I haven't looked at the registration stuff yet. Can you create a Songfight! team on the US site? That would probably make more sense than me making one on the Australian site.

EDIT - on second thoughts - maybe we do both, and have UK and Canada sites too - with everybody joining each team to make it an international presence.

A Songfight! team has been set up in Australia if anyone would like to join. Or perhaps someone could start one in the USA.

Hi All,

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I'll be growin a Mo. That's right I'm bringing the Mo back because I'm passionate about changing men's health and the fight against male depression and prostate cancer. Why...

Depression affects 1 in 6 men...Most don't seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer - equivalent to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually.
Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 5 years less than females.
To sponsor my Mo please go to http://www.movember.com/au/donate, enter my registration number which is 100447 and your credit card details. Or you can sponsor me by cheque made payable to the "Movember Foundation" clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 100447. Please mail cheques to: PO Box 292, Prahran VIC 3181. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

The money raised by Movember is donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative, which will use the funds to create awareness, fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and male depression.

For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the detail at: Fundraising Outcomes.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partés. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title. If you would like to be part of this great night you'll need to purchase a Gala Parté ticket .

Thanks for your support

Caravan Ray

More info is available at http://www.movember.com.

Movember is proudly grown by Commonwealth Bank, Holden, Schick and VB.

Movember is proud partners with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative.

It is 31/10/07 and I have shaved my upper lip. The 'tache starts here.

Hmmm...it takes about a month and a half to even acquire a mustache remotely worth writing home about..and given that I've already got one attached to my beard, I think I'll keep things as they are... though last week I did trim the beard. ;)

Not if you are dressed as his evil twin, Chad. You need to think these things out before you act, Jim.

It has just ben brought to my attention that if you want to join my team, you will need my email address.

You can sign up by using:

Registration Number: 100447
Email: john.davoren(at)smec.com.au

It appears that you can join my team via the USA/UK/Canada sites with those details (I think) - meaning that if you do want to raise some money, your donations will stay in your home country (I think).

Check it out - if it doesn't work, just start a USA/UK/Canada team, or enter as an individual

I don't believe in Movember. However, some friends and I are going to do the December Mustache Club, which involves growing a mustache for December 1st and leaving it until finals are over.

I can't grow a decent mustache (or beard for that matter). So I'll be walking around Muncie with the ugliest/creepiest piece of lip hair you've ever seen. I will probably be stopped by police and taken in for questioning about child molestation or rape or something. It's one of those mustaches.

Yeah, you don’t get lips like those without doing some major sucking.

Nice setup bzl, you set them up, I’ll knock them down.

No, no, I just wanted to look at some current porn stars, while caressing my smooth smooth face. Opportunities like this don't happen by every day, you know!

 I'll explain again...When the gentleman is clean shaven - it's called "art-house cinema". It's only when moustaches are involved that it becomes porn.
