I registered this accout a while ago but lost the password. I havn't entered any song fights yet but i'm really tempted to. Recording is not a problem but I can't do vocals so I'm not so sure about that...

Welcome! Varying styles and heaviness? Excellent! As I see this situation, there are two possibilities,

a. You're underestimating your vocal capabilities.
b. No, you're not.

See, I have no idea. Instrumentals get beat up even more than songs with bad vocals, usually. I'm with Mr. Cashpoint; find a collaborator. Just wait until Phil Wages shows up. Everybody loves him if you can get him to sing in tune. , Phil. I suppose I'd also be available to do vocals. I used to hate my voice, so it's okay, and good and healthy, even, that I'm now comfortable with it. It took a lot of mental anguish to get to this point. Although I won't have any voice left if I keep doing these damned Hetfield and Reznor impressions. So none of that, preferably, as much as everyone may or may not like it. Call me when you need some wuss rock, I suppose. I can sing with so much mouth noise, Ben Gibbard gets jealous.

Holy Christ, Paco. Stop beating yourself up. I like your voice. I'm not just saying that. I wouldn't. It's not the draw to your music, per se; that would probably be the great tone and performance on the instruments. But it's not as if your voice is underdeveloped and unfitting, or otherwise below par. You've got a good sound going. It all works well together, and I enjoy it quite a bit when you push your low register.

I am only 15 years old so I am competing (I assume) with people far more experienced etc, but its just a bit of fun, right =), also thats probs why I hate my voice.

This is more recent, I'm quite proud of the speed of the intro solo 'cause Im not a proper guitarist (I'm A Bassist in ceasefire) so this was quite good for me standard hehe.

[Edit] For My Projects I usually use Reaper =) Or Myxcraft until my trial ran out. Also Audacity is sometimes used, although less now than before.
And Itunes to add the song information / albumart. but thats not reaaaaly too important =) [/Edit]

Sweet deal! I'm no longer the youngest fighter at SF - what a momentous occasion!

ps - if you hate your voice, that's all the more reason to record yourself singing songs. I hate how my voice sounded in my old songs, but because I recorded that garbage, my voice is a thousand times better than it was (if a bit weak, still).

I record my voice singing along but its not good enough to show anyone yet hehe. I'm gonna at least get it to sound half decent before I inflict it upon anyone xD. Any thoughts about the links to songs? e.g hints how to improve ?

I listened to the last one about 15 minutes go. Advice for what I remember of it (and any songs which suffer from the same problem) - make distinct sections - more chord progressions is good - one progression for a whole song is boring, even if there' s a cool guitar solo on top. There are ways to get more realistic sounding fake drums, but I was never one to master that technique. Put up a song with your vocals, and I'll review it in more detail. If you're really ashamed of it, just pm it to me.

Yeah I know these are demos, I work better with a team of people. I can write good riffs and stuff but it is a lot better if I work with a friend, like in ceasefire its me and the two guitarists.

I don't Have a proper song with my vocals in, I just record my vocals on audacity, listen to them and then delete them hehe ^^' I'll do one for tomorrow or something I got a lot of homework/coursework to be getting on with i'm afraid...

I meant to say: this isn't entirely true. off the top of my head I can think of three british who regularly fight: yourself, Spoons & Adamant. Plus me, endlessly posting, and a whole host of semi-regular fighters; Andy Balham, Motor Monkeys, Kamakura, Kapitano, and probably the cream of the crop (in terms of wins anyway,) Pompeii. And there ar emore than escape my tired brain at this moment. You should check them out (well, you could skip me but everyone else is pretty good). That said, the more from the no thanksgiving side of the Atlantic the better.

p.s. Some of us can still be found doing a small, semi-regular thing over here yep gratuitous plug. You're very welcome there too.

The fighters I left in the quotes aren't very regular. I haven't seen Kamakura around here since the days of the first Nur Ein. I haven't even seen the others around (though I've heard legends of Pompeii)

Time Spent to Time Gone makes them semi-regular to my mind. But fair point - I guess so does mine - as they were the ones that sprung to mind, mine and yours.

It's nice when my computer freezes and I double post. Well, NOW I'm going over to make useless posts in the Maki thread about how rad my song is.
