So, is it too early to start talking about a 2nd annual SongFight! North America West Coast Live tour for 2008?

No it is not.

Whenever it is, I will be there AND I will be square.

I guess I should finish uploading all the video from 2007. The goal is to get it posted before the next tour.

2nd tour same as the 1st, although maybe a Berkeley location that is not the prisoner's house?

Let's have an Albertan location!!!!

Not that it's going to happen, but it would be nice for me not to have to drive 8 hours there and back to go and suck at performing.

So it's kind of like - "California, A Couple Non-Californian Cities, And That Other Country TOUR 2008"?

I like it.

I've heard rumors that crossing the border to play shows can trigger some sort of government nuttiness regarding taxes and work visas. (As in -- "You guys need work visas to play a show here.")

Anyone know if this rumor is purely the stoned histrionics of other musicians I've spoken to? (We're prone to hyperbole in Little Beirut.)

That said, Vancouver (and Vancouver Island) is the shit! I love that neck of the woods.

Cross the border Suzies-style, i.e. DON'T BRING ANY INSTRUMENTS!

Doh...

I would almost definitely be into traveling up the coast with you fellers.

Dude, when I come home for christmas, we'll hold an Albertan Songfight Live at the church. You, Me, Jeff, and maybe even Brendon (he was on Adonai) will rock the joint. Also if there's any other Calgarian/Albertan songfighters, they are welcome to join.

Hahaha. We could also have Ben Krieger play, even though he is a different Ben Krieger than the one on SongFight.

Victoria, actually. So close--but yet so far--from Vancouver. I'd love to see a Victoria show happen, but I understand if it's a little out-of-the-way. Still, just to tempt you guys more, I have a house now with no room-mates, no immediate neighbors, in fact no other nearby residences at all. And a dedicated practice space with guitar amp, bass amp, [electronic] drum kit, etc...

BrianF could come over and we'd all do our Abominominous covers. It would be glorious.

That said, I really don't mind going to Seattle. It's a nice city, and a short drive. Plus, I promise to Abeseanderian--saudad that this time I'll make sleeping arrangements ahead of time.

Well, it's a West coast tour, and California takes up most of the West coast, so...

Do you have a time of year planned?

My wife is going to India early next year on a photographic tour, leaving me at home baby-sitting for two weeks. That will give me good brownie-points towards another leave-pass like I had for my California trip last year! And my Qantas Frequent Flier points have built up again....

Hey Chris - should we look into an Orange County stop for this thing - or is it too close to LA and San Diego?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. We're 45 minutes in either direction, so why bother.

By the way Ross, your new avatar looks just like you, lol.

As always, I am completely excited about the possability of this... but as always it's impossible to know what my work situation will be next year. Though if this writer's strike drags on and becomes a writer's/actor's strike, I may have a whole crapton of free time on my hands.

So yeah, let's call me in on this with my usual level of absolute enthusiasm mixed by total non-commitment.

...unless it's in July, cause that's when I'm gettin hitched.

if it's the second half of the year and stops in san francisco i would totally be all about it.

not that i've been around the community at all in the past two years, or that i've spent those two years writing songs or anything. but! i will probably be moving out there, and would love to finally meet some SF dudes.

isn't it annoying how "SF" stands for both "song fight" and "san francisco"?

I didn't have a specific time frame in mind, however this year we did the tour in March. March 2008 is coming up soon, so I thought I would resurrect the idea in case people wanted to do it in March again next year. I think it's good to have it a fair distance in time away from the annual official gathering, for a variety of reasons.
