2008 location inquiry

I AM NOT COMMITTING TO ANYTHING YET
but
I am living in Columbus now. Ohio is a pretty central location for everyone, international friends aside. I would like to gauge everyone's interest in holding SF Live in Ohio. Now, Columbus would obviously be much easier for me to hold, but the last time this came up in conversation, the general sentiment was that Cleveland would be preferred. Some possible attractions:
Cleveland
- Cleveland Indians baseball
- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
- Pro Football Hall of Fame (1 hr away)
Columbus
- Better indie music scene (possible attendance)
- Campus area (though it'd be summer, this is also additional possible attendance)
- Cheaper to put on show
- High St has a shitload of bars
I don't know much about Cleveland, but I was referred to
The Grog Shop, which looked pretty cool. Columbus has many small- to mid-size venues; I've played the
High Five before, and I'm hoping to catch MC Frontalot's show this Tuesday at The Basement, both to see him and to check out the venue itself. There is obviously much more of interest in each city, but I am just testing the waters right now. Please let me know how you feel.
(P.S. - I do not really know anything about Cincinatti, except to know that it's not really worth pursuing. If anyone has an opinion to the contrary and would like me to look into it, I can, but this would definitely be my last choice.)

All this energy calling me, back where it comes from.....

Sandusky has Ceder Point, but it's not a major hub.

Yeah, I knew I'd forget something like that.
Cedar Point, for those who don't know, is an amusement park world-renowned for its roller coasters. CP and (I think) some Japanese amusement park keep going back and forth on 'fastest in the world'.
It's a little over an hour from Cleveland.

I haven't been there since I was like 10. Do they still have that old rickety wooden roller coaster? I can't remember the name of it but 20 something years ago it was the bomb.
I'll be honest... I'm not crazy about the Columbus idea. I've never been to Cleveland though and Frankie might be interested in Jacobs Field as a potential stop. (I'm not into baseball but I could find myself watching a game there)
The last time I visited Ohio I went to Greenville for a family reunion. (There is a landmark there called The Hoblit House btw) Boy was that a one horse town at the time. I've got family in Toledo and in Kentucky...I'm not committing to Ohio yet...but theres all of that.

It's highly unlikely I will be attending SongFight Live next summer, but thanks for thinking of me Hoblit.

Hey, a SFL I might actually be able to drive to. Might be interested as long as the price of oil doesn't approach the price of silver.

It would be fun to see everyone again wherever it is.

Ohio seems pretty reasonable. I've never been to Columbus. Cleveland I have been to twice, for a Grateful Dead concert and to visit my dad when he was in the Cleveland Clinic. Didn't see much of the city, though

I guess that's an "either one" vote.

Ohio definitely works for me proximity wise.

For purely selfish reasons I think we should do SFL in Cleveland in 2009, as I'm probably going there that summer anyway for a reunion at my college.

Where's the love for the international friends? I don't think I can afford two years on the trot but I thought I'd still wade in with a remark.

The point was, if you're flying in, I don't think that flying a little further would be an issue. Attractions are obviously just as important for the international crowd as anyone stateside, but that wasn't the intent.
