John Clarke does those interviews every Thursday night on The 7:30 Report. He is probably the best satirist in Australia (even if he is an ex-Kiwi) - a dead-set genius. However, they are all very topical, relating to the local political issues of the day. I'm surprised you can get much out of them!

Before moving to Australia - Clake did comedy in New Zealand under the name "Fred Dagg". Here's a bit from a Kiwi movie (hope you can understand this without sub-titles or translation). And this - the unofficial NZ national anthem

Well, I'm not going to get the exact topical issues, but what I get a laugh from is the accent combined with the expressions, along with the serious face and the WAY over done jokes.....I guess that's the best way I can describe it.
So, where you get the benefit of the topical issues as you are laughing, I get the benefit of the accent when I'm laughing. Evens out in the end, lol. A brisk novelty up your freckle, it goes like a strangled fart.

By the way John, you should do a song one of these days in the style of "We don't know how lucky we are". you know, like tell a story and have a chorus fitting to the subject. I've done a couple, but it would be much more entertaining hearing your accent.

Interestingly in the UK and Wales we get political satire of the same vein. The guys that do it here are both called John...I guess theres somthing in the name...


But here they appear on the Rory Bremner Show... they are called Bird and Fortune
