Gibson Robot Guitar

I'm thinking they have a lot of projects going on, what with their usual Les Pauls and other models, the digital guitar and now the Robot Guitar. They need to combine all these things, of course. But check this thing out, it's pretty amazing. Auto tunes to standard, a set of default alternate tunings, and then you can customize them to your own as well (they have a pretty good intro to alternate tunings). The servos in the tuning heads look amazing, and then when you wonder "how does the bridge transmit data to the tuning heads?" you realize it uses the string itself to tell each head what to do! That's brilliant, no?

Anyway, guitars are pretty cool.

I agree that guitars are pretty cool, Roymond. Hooray for guitars!

That thing is certainly impressive as far as technology is concerned, and I'm sure it would benefit many a pro but more than likely it'll be bought as an investment and hoarded by collectors. All they need now is to have it endorsed by Ahnold in his full Terminator get-up. :)

I like that it has a mode for helping you correct its intonation, too.

I was pretty excited when I first read about it, right up to the point where I found out it was basically just a self-tuning guitar.

The moment they make one that can actually *play* itself, then I'll be interested!
