It's been a while since I've started a roll call. But then again, I've been hella busy with Purple Reign and writing my novel Septemberian and getting ready for GOM and SF: NY and being a dad. It's a lot to have on the palette but I'm happy to have it all so I can't complain.

QotD: It's the holiday season and that means it's time for holiday episodes of TV shows...well it would be if there wasn't a writers strike. Oh well. What are some of your favorite holiday episodes of the past. (and I'm not talking about specials like Rudolph and Frosty)

My favorite one is from All in the Family. "Edith's Crisis of Faith". That's the one where Edith questions religion when her friend Beverly LaSalle (a female impersonated) is murdered. Jean Stapleton's performance is amazing.

IRL: Brought in a new bass player last night. Goddamn! He seems to like our stuff, and meshes too. First time sounding like an actual band for us. And with the new member comes yet another change in nomenclature. Goodbye Holocaustic, hello Whoregasm??? Heh.

QOTD - Never liked the Waltons. I can't think of a favorite but I used to get gushy with a lot of the shows back then. MASH, Taxi, WKRP, etc. Any of the ones where you cared about the characters.

Cold today but nowhere near as bad as some of you others. Or nearly as warm either. Finished a Total Request Cover song today and dipped my toes in some new areas production-wise. Tryin'. I'ma tryin'!

Last night I finally saw Ratatouille (yeah, I know, right?), while eating some fresh homemade andouille+shrimp gumbo and accompanied by a glass of Sousão. All three things are highly-recommended. Especially in combination.

QOTD

Not being Christian I generally don't much care for Christmas episodes. Ones which are a bit more agnostic are pretty okay, though, since those more celebrate humanity and togetherness and so on.

That said, the various Doctor Who Christmas episodes are pretty great, if only because they generally use Christmas as a set piece for something exceedingly zany.

DRC: My mom comes into town tonight. I gotta get her from the airport in a couple few hours.

QotD: The Night Court episode entitled Santa Goes Downtown, where a drunken man in a Santa suit may or may not actually be Santa Claus.

DRC: I went last night and shot video (two video cameras and stills) of a songwriters' night at one of my Alma Maters, so some of today was spent uploading still and video footage to the computer. One of the instructors at the school has the other camera, but it appears that I have his battery and firewire cable in my case, so I guess I won't be getting that footage from him right away...

QotD: my memory for anything on TV lately is just so bad, I don't even remember if any of our favorite shows did Thanksgiving episodes this year. I have vague memories of Santa Claus falling off the roof of the Bundy's house on Married With Children; other than that... I got nothin'. Thanksgiving episodes, I think WKRP may have retired the trophy...

QotD: I couldn't think of one until other people posted on here. But now I remember that Night Court episode, that one was pretty good. And props to Jean Stapleton; she actually did some great work on All In The Family, too. And of course Santa's Little Helper. Oh wait, I've got one: I like the Futurama episodes where the Santa robot kicks everyone's ass.

The episode of M*A*S*H where the doctors try to prevent a terminally wounded soldier from dying on Christmas Day.

Wow, I couldn't come up with any - but you guys are bringing back the memories.

That night court was good - and I love the way theM*A*S*H episode ends. I think that Santa's little helper was also the series premier wasn't it? That would make it unique, I suppose.

I bet there's a great Northern Exposure one, but I just can't recall right now.

EDIT: I just read KA - That married with children one is hilariuos, but doesn't he actually skydive and his parachute fails to open?

News: Off to Naracoorte today, for a friends housewarming. For those of you (which I would make an educated guess, would be practically all of you) who don't know, Naracoorte is a long fucking way away. Just under 5 hours drive, but not quite as far away as Coffin Bay, at 10 hours drive. It is worth noting that I will not be leaving my state of residence, this place is just fucking huge.

Games: Finished Bioshock. Eh, the ending is ok, but I suppose the whole experience is supposed to be getting there. I pinched my brothers copy of Assassins Creed, and will give that a go. It looks like fun in that Prince of Persia, running and jumping across rooftops and landing head first on the ground, way.

QOTD: Dunno if I have one. No, wait, that South Park episode where Santa crashed in Irag and Jesus is shot. With Cartman trying to be 'good' for the whole episode.
