DRC: Got some video from a songwriter's night on Thursday loaded onto the computer; still waiting for video from the second camera and the audio. Went by my mom's and took care of lunch & stuff. Taped a documentary about Cuba before Castro for some friends who were missionaries there for many years (I think this was a documentary made by Castro to show how bad things were before the revolution). Made a new seat cover for the car. Watched some TV, did some housecleaning and such.
We got a new foster dog on Monday, a mastiff named Gwen:
She has become totally attached to me, follows me up and down the stairs and all around the house all day long...
QotD: I got nothing...

Lennon was born Oct 9. let's celebrate/remember him on that day instead of the day someone killed him.

me neither

news
felt like crap for most of the day, feeling dehydrated with a throbbing headache that would not go away, in essence like i was hung over without the fun the night before. went to a nice little dinner party tonight, first dungeness crabfest of the season, cooked up some live crabs with baby bok choy and homemade foccacia bread. it was pretty awesome. broke out the celebration ale. the dinner party was with 2 of the guys that played in brody at songfight live high and dry (chris and mark, no e money...) and we played some music for the first time together since that show. i think we're going to play a new years party together at chris's house.
weather
storms in socal brought in some monster waves last week, i'm talking 70-80 foot faces at mavericks, 20 foot waves at steamers in santa cruz. a well known big wave surfer died last week just south of here in monterey, surfing 40 foot waves (thats like a 4 story building) and his leash broke and he lost his board and drowned in the surf.
actually, pretty nice day today, sunny and in the 50's. i'll take it.
sports
warriors still kickin ass. lakers game tomorrow night is big. hoping the sox can somehow get santana without having to give up one of the kids (pedroia or ellesberry). a rotation of beckett, santana, schilling, and dice-k would be the best in the majors.
also, i agree with roy about lennon.
here's what the songfight rainbow coalition for peace has to say.

Gwen looks sad. She looks like a great dog. If I was closer to you, Id take her for a run, she looks like she'd love going to the beach.

News: Back from Naracoorte. The distance counter contraption in the car says we did 525km there and back. Add another 50km or so onto that, as we didn't start counting straight away.
Weather: Hail stones the size of golf balls!?

Maybe December 8 could be Toto Day then. Do Toto have a day yet? What about REO Speedwagon Day?

Damn, we never get anything like that here.
If we ever got golf ball sized hail here, I'd be out in the street with a motorcycle helmet and a driver, aiming for my neighbors windows.

When you say 'foster dog' does it mean that you are just keeping Gwen for a little while? Either way ... that is a really cute dog.

Last night I went to a party and got drunker than I've ever been, and almost ended up puking on this one guy I've had my eye on for a while. And he sat with me on the porch while I was getting some fresh air. <3 <3 <3
(and then I missed the last train home and I went back to his place and we chatted a bunch and then I slept on his couch!)

I didn't know you were gay. I'm so damn naive.
Well, good thing you didn't puke on him, it would have made it hard to get a second date.
