The Song Fight Bulletin Board

Allyson and I are preparing for Christmas Eve at her mother's house. Some last minute shopping for stocking stuffers and ingredients for the cheese ball she wants to make, etc.

Question of the Day: Which Songfighters have you met in person, and what were the circumstances?

I met John (Doctor Worm) when he came to my college to do a concert with When Robots Ruled the World. Adjuster came to see the show too, so I met him that night as well.

I also met MC Frontalot when I went to his show in New Orleans. He put me in his movie.

I've never been to a Songfight Live event, sadly, though I came close once, so that's the entirety of my list.

QOTD: Um, bunches. Too early in the morning for coherent thought. Getting tattoo in a couple of hours. Need more coffee. The striking (and surprising, sometimes) thing is how unashamedly nice and enthusiastic they are. It's too early for the right adjectives/synonyms. Glad to be a part of this community, yo.

QotD: I met a bunch of SFers in Boston in '05, but I think that's it. I'm gonna meet a few more in January in NYC. There's only one other here in NH that I know of.

I'm assuming that's me, but the 'know of' part must refer to how Rabid Garfunkel called me Bigfoot recently; rumored to exist, but actual sightings rare and non-confirmed. One day there will the tap on your shoulder at a gig. Sadly, I won't be sighted in NYC, but hope to attend a SF! Live event some time, hopefully later in '08.

I have met Glennny, or Glen from Zipline. Seems like a really nice guy and very easy to work with musically. He drove up to my house from a business trip he was on in Boston and we recorded parts of songs under Oderiferous Valley and for the recent Frisbee and the Swingset song.

So, I've played live with a fighter from California, and have never met one who lives, like, an hour away from me. Nice guy, huh?

i had like a thousand songfighters show up in my living room once. ok, maybe it was more like 50. thank god for the alley.

so the short answer is lots.

Yeah, Mogosagatai. I wasn't going to put "some phunt guy", but I remembered him, just not his name. I still don't remember which of the Wreckdom crew I met, so I am playing it safe for now.

How could I forget Ken Flagg? He was great at High and Dry. Anyway, list updated.

I was also torn between band names and user names. I could have padded the list by naming all of the Suzies (Patrick, Jarret, Nick), but no need. I am very pleased that this community has allowed me to come in contact with all of the amazing people.

None yet, but as soon as Booty Chesterfield gets down my way, I really want to check out their show. Also, I'd like to go see Ross Durand if he does a show around the O.C.

I'm sick..I've actually been sick for a few days but today I've slept in until 2:30 trying to sleep it off.

Not bad sick...just a very annoying head cold.

I made a new one last night. I made a few of my usual ones, but I tried something new too. I'm the only one in my family that likes coconut, so I don't use it as much as I'd like. Pretty much just Magic Cookie Bars, which I love.
I had a bag of fun sized Almond Joys left over from Halloween. So I simply folded in about 15 or 20 little Almond Joys and about a cup of whole toasted almonds. Some of the almond joys stayed whole, some kind of broke up, which is perfect. Then before I put it in the pan, I had toasted a bunch of coconut and chopped some almonds and had about a half inch thick of the coconut and almond mixture on the bottom of the "parchment paper" lined pan. Then added the fudge mixture. Oh My God, it is a coconut and chocolate lovers dream. The salted almonds work really well with all the sweet chocolate. Plus the presentation looks great, because it's flipped out of the pan with the coconut on top.

QOTD: I haven't met any of you. The only songfighters I know are ones I knew before I joined (Jeff Henderson, Big Crouton)

I haven't met any SF!-ers that I didn't like, and I've met a bunch. I always mention the people involved as one of the best things about SF!, when telling others about SF!. SongLove!

My list is basically Spud's list, minus the people who were only at SFP&T (such as Prosthetic Johnson, Brick Pig, and Sparks - wait, weren't Sparks and Prosthetic Johnson the same person?) or not at an SFLive at all. Also I didn't end up meeting every SFer who was at Boston.

Also I think Spud forgot ifpo238, who was also at SF Austin, although it's possible that Spud didn't actually meet him there.

I have never met any other songfighters. It's weird since I first songfought in 2003. You'd think I'd have met another songfighter in a four year period. I've only once met someone on the internet and then met them in real life.

Year 1 in the suburban life just got that much stranger. Carolers. Dude. That's unbelievable to a city kid like me. If you caroled door to door in my old neighborhoods, you'd get shot.

Actually, I met Andy Balham through SF, and I now consider him one of my favourite people. I also met through him Stevie Windsor (of Motor Monkeys fame) and Sarah Beanz. At SF:UK i met Kapitano, Kamakura and all of Pompeii. Am pretty sure that's all I have met.

It's better that way

I look forward to meeting those I haven't as much as I savor the meetings I've had the pleasure of having to date. See you in Brooklyn!
