Hi all.

I'm kinda lazing around after taking a late night walking around LA looking for dinner after the symphony concert.

QOTD: I became curious while mixing my GOM on headphones and then checking it in the car. How do you usually listen to songfight! songs? Headphones? Computer speakers? Car? Home stereo? This is purely selfish so I'll know what to mix for :-)

LA Phil with a guest conductor. A "Modern" concert including Berio and Ives, among others. The Ives was "Central park in the dark...", one of my favorites, which they performed antiphonally ( I think that's the right word).

I love Ives too. Berio is caught in earlier styles. The classical music world has to get a move on. Mid-20th century is hardly modern anymore, but audiences are so afraid of contemporary music and subscriptions get slaughtered when responsible directors program it.

Was this at the Disney Hall? I haven't been there yet.

Great question of the day. I wonder this myself, quite often.

QOTD: I answered "good headphones" for the poll, but here is my multiple answer.
Home stereo = 2%
Car stereo = 30%
Small headphones (like earbuds) = 15%
Good headphones = 45%
Computer speakers = 8%

Above are rough estimates.

There ought to have been an "other" category. I chose "Computer speakers" because I listen on my computer, but using JBL Creature 2.0 Speakers, which are a bit better than "computer speakers." Ah well.. Back to school soon...

I said car. It's car. Car makes it the easiest to get the most listens in. Some of you don't have cars, so you can't. But for people with cars, I advocate my system.

Make a CD and put it in your car. Listen to it all week. Do some computer listens in between (for me, including computer speakers, pretty good headphones, and $1 headphones from Big Lots!) Come back and do your business.

I don't even think about voting or reviewing until I've gotten 5-12 good listens in. Though some songs are so horribly annoying that I start skipping them as soon as listen number three or four. I try to be fair to everyone, but obviously, you can't be completely objective, anyway. It's like some music is just asking to be hated. And there's nothing I can do about that.

Usually computer speakers, but sometimes also good headphones. Never earbuds, they are really uncomfortable. Once (The week of "Lizard Wizard") I burned a CD and M and I wrote dual reviews on paper then I typed them in.

Edit: good graphic :)

[a bunch of results]
I thought perhaps something like this had been asked before, but was too lazy to do the research.

Thanks for this though. Actually its interesting to see the results coming out similarly again.

Calm down oats! - but would listening on a different sound delivery device make some of those tunes more palatable?

Also - I am interested and impressed that you get through every one 3 or 4 times. Usually I am skipping through some of the ones I don't like by the second listen.
