Oh, hey, does this have to be a new, original song?
I think I kind of need to do a song I already know, since I won't be able to see the lyrics sheet through the towel.

Alright, I did a cover.
Apparently, I don't really know the words to this one, after all. Oh well.
This was the first take. Equipment issues forced me into not being able to record any more takes. And now I have to go to work.
But, anyway, here's the first one for your collection:
Brand New Love (Sebadoh Cover)

That is just as funny as I thought it would be. Here is your prize for being man enough to do the dare:

Wow, thanks? That prize is almost as terrible as the specimen I submitted.

That picture is yours to keep forever. I found it in google but I have stolen it and I am giving all rights to you.

How is there music coming out of that guitar?

It's not that hard to play guitar with oven mitts.
However, it's incredibly hard to play the notes you want to play.
I actually did a decent run-through of the guitar part with just the mitts. But then came the towel, and I had no frame of reference for where to put my hands. I don't need to tell you that the results were disastrous. At the beginning, I ended up playing like...distressed James Bond in reverse, instead of Brand New Love.

Was that drop D tuning?
I would guess that be the easiest way to play guitar with oven mints. One finger power chords.

Looked to me like full-on open tuning.

Good job, guys.
Open D tuning.
D A D F# A D
I use it quite a lot, actually.
You'd have to be some kind of lunatic to try playing oven mitt guitar in Spanish tuning. You don't see those guys that are explicitly slide players using it. In fact, in most folk and world music, open tunings are dominant.
Maybe a good FAWM challenge would be to do each song in a different guitar tuning?
