i've been recording covers all day cause it's been poring ass buckets of rain all friggin day. fun but not a very productive day and i'm burnt, despite the fact that i didn't do shit all day but play and record music (and watch the warriors game and take a nap).
qotd: tell me why, i don't like mondays? or why don't you like them?

qotd: Because you want to shooo...ooo...ooo.oooot, the whole....day...down.
Geez, 9 minutes into the 28th, and no one has even mentioned that it's Lego's 50th anniversary. Cha!
By the way, I don't mind Mondays. Just another day doing the same thing I do any other Monday, plan to take over the world.

I slept in, then spent a while slouching around the house with a mild hangover from my birthday party last night. Had dinner with Erin and a friend then went to band practice. Hacked around on some code, now going to sleep.

If you work Monday through Friday, you should love Mondays. They can often be spent being so busy getting back up to speed that before you know it, the day is over. Tuesday is the day that sucks. The week has started, it's not even hump day yet, the weekend is waaaay off looking. Love your Mondays, everyone. Unless Monday is your Tuesday, that is.
And hello, everybody. Here I am. I'm waving to you all right now in a non beauty pageant manner, but with all fingers raised most certainly. Hello!

qotd: Because you, like me have a M-F day job and Monday always comes too soon after the weekend in which you didn't have enough time to do whatever it is you had intended on the previous Friday. Mondays are also the day everybody has to get back in gear and that means they are busy making you busy in turn making you make someone else busy.
I was hoping for today's QOTD..but maybe I'll start tomorrow.
I've been effing busy up until just now. 2 1/2 hours of strait busy..and I still have to duck back out. Later ya'll.

Roll Call: Working. Tonight I'm practicing with (Who Are) The Brain Police. I think we're working on some of the drummer's originals. Fun!
QotD: Mondays are okay. I'd like 'em better if I could book more of them. Nobody is looking for a musician on Mondays. I think there's an open mic up at The Red Parka, but that's two hours* from here.
*An hour and a half in the summer. But this time of year, the Kankamagus highway is unfit for travel, so you've got to go the long way.

Everyone who plays guitar has recently taken to bringing their spare guitars to work. I have no idea why. It's not like anyone's playing them during the day. But I guess it's nice to have my old crappy Squier out of the closet.
I think we might be starting an office band? I don't know. So far it's just three guitars and I guess I can do vocals though.

DRC: I've been trying to re-invent my life a bit. I've been falling into a rut lately, so I decided last week to get my life back on track. It's amazing what positive thinking actually can do for your outlook on life. I did a bunch of housecleaning this weekend, hung out with my oldest friend, went out for a few... this morning I got up early and went to work on the early shift (6:00am - 2:45pm) had a generally pleasant day (despite the fact that it was -46 Celsius with the wind chill... If you think you know what cold is, you are wrong. I'm just glad I work indoors.) went out shopping for Idon'tknowwhat, but ended up buying some jeans, underwear, gloves, and a new winter coat (with a hood).
QotD: You don't like Mondays because Garfield doesn't like them.

THEY LIVE INSIDE OF MY HEAD
THE BRAIN POLICE

[edit] Those underwear I mentioned earlier? Well, I'm a bikini briefs kinda guy, but I thought, JUST FOR A CHANGE, I'll try some boxer-briefs. They are like all form-fitting (I just tried a pair on) yet stretchy, and make my package look HUGE. I think I just converted.

Went to class. The subject of my class is (on paper, at least) Literary Magazines and their influence on Anglo-American culture, literature, etc. My Prof, who happens to be the editor of
The Kenyon Review, uses this as an opportunity to riff on whatever he thinks is important in the literary world these days. He riffed for a good half hour on the Amazon Kindle and how important it will be to the death of the print book. Thought Fluffy at least would appreciate that.
Then I had the first session of the RPG I'm running this year. It went beautifully. I'll spare you the details unless there's anyone geeky enough to press me.
QotD: You probably hate Mondays because they signify the end of the weekend. However, I love Mondays because of the abovementioned class, which only meets once a week on Mondays.

Oh, I can press. What system? And if its D20 system, what game world? An established one, or you make a new one for yourself?
So your GMing? Thats the only way to do it, none of this dopey player shit. Real tabletop roleplay geeks go the GM, for total power and onmipotence!
How big is your group?

The Zappa tune is on Freak Out!, I think. It's been a while since I've heard it.
The thing about that band is, we don't actually do any Zappa. So as much as I like the name, I don't really think it's appropriate. Maybe we can work out Crew Slut or something...

It's not a d20 system, actually. It's the
Serenity RPG, which uses an original system devised specifically for this game, and then re-used for the
Battlestar Galactica system a couple of years later. They call it the Cortex System. It's a very lean system with a bare minimum of interpretation of rules necessary; it's a good game for beginners. All your stats and skills, instead of being represented by some abstract number, are represented by the dice you'll roll for them; the higher the better. So you might have a d12 strength, but a d4 intelligence. It's quite cool.
I have seven players, three of whom have never RPG'd before. It's working surprisingly well, though. 8)

Also, it's only "obscure" to the uncool 8)

I have found new players can be some of the best players, if only because they don't know any of your tricks.
Serenity RPG, huh? I didn't realise there was one, but on reflection,
of course there is one. The system sound interesting, I might have to track a copy down.
