Teen assaulted with hedgehog

A NEW Zealand man has been charged with assault after he threw a hedgehog at a teenage boy.

"It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks,'' police sergeant Bruce Jenkins told the Herald on Sunday.

Shortly after throwing the animal, William Singalargh, 27, of Whakatane was arrested for assaulting the 15-year-old with a weapon.

It is not known whether the hedgehog. was dead or alive at the time, but it was dead after the incident when it was collected as evidence, the paper said.

(BTW: what makes this story even funnier - is that when you say the name of the town " Whakatane" - the "Wha" is actually pronounced "Fu")

Poor Hedgehog.
I wonder if there is a restitution on the books for this. My friend that now lives in New Zealand says that they don't have frivolous lawsuits, because you are given only what is on the books for the injury in an accident, etc. So if you are hit by someone running a red light and you're car gets banged up and you don't have any injuries, you are rewarded only for the damages to your car. Now, if you lost a finger and broke a toe, there is a dollar amount for those two injuries, not a dollar more.

Wasn't there a guy in NZ a couple of weeks ago who called the cops and told them that he was being raped by a wombat?

Good choice of home, Ray. At least you might get to see a bit more Police 107.

Assault! Assault!
