The Slip

Yet another new nin album, this one completely free (ie, you can't pay him for it if you wanted to), and again creative-commmons licensed. Dude obviously needs a hobby, he's got far too much spare time by the looks of things.
Some standout tracks and a few ones I could have lived without. Overall not the best nin album I've heard, but better than With Teeth. Hopefully the so-so ones will grow on me, but even if they don't I can't really complain 'cos I got some great songs for free

Ain't that the truth!
Interesting to see what Trent makes when he is no longer beholden to anyone. For the most part I'm feeling pretty meh about the album, but Head Down is the sweetest new NIN song I've heard in a long while.
Also, very cool that one of the download options is 24bit/96khz. This guy sure knows how to win me over.

Really? I think Head Down is one of the 3 weaker songs on the album (t'other two being 1,000,000 and Letting You).
(To complete the list: Discipline, Echoplex and 999,999 are pretty much ok and I love Lights In The Sky, Corona Radiata, The Four Of Us Are Dying and particularly Demon Seed. Funny how that last 4 are the last 4 tracks on the album, but I've been listening on random shuffle so there's no causation there).

Really nice stuff. A lot of it sounds like Broken via Year Zero. I'm really pleased at how things have been going with Nine Inch Nails lately, though I'd like more of the extended near-prog structuring and layering of The Downward Spiral on this new stuff. I can hardly complain, though.

Really?
I like the main guitar riff and the chorus melody. The noise solo is cool, too.

That guy needs an outlet, you know, like Song Fight! or something.

hey, i'm really enjoying this one, though some of the drum sounds are surprisingly lame.

I'm looking forward to giving myself time to listen to this, but I noticed something right away. One of the song titles is "The Four of Us Are Dying", and that's the name of an episode from the first season of the Twilight Zone. It's a good episode too.
ROCK!

Listened to this yesterday. The standout track so far for me has been Corona Radiata. Very cool. Different for him, I think.

just noticed in the other thread about the twilight zone list of episodes... MTR must really like the twilight zone because I just noticed the first episode "Where Is Everybody?" which if I recall correctly is a song from the Fragile...

I like this album for falling asleep to, when my Airport Express decides to work.

how do you think Trent would do in a fight? I've often heard songs on the radio, and thought "that wouldn't even do well in a songfight".
