I know it must seem that I'm a whiny bitch lately. I've noticed comments (and even song verses) that indicate so. Its not really like me to complain all of the time so this reflection is a red flag for me. I apologize if I seem to be using all of ya'll for affirmation or therapy. I'm not, I think that all of this is just a sign that my life is moving a thousand miles an hour and only half of that is in the positive. I'll work on it.
But not right now. Yesterday sucked for me. I learned a good friend of mine (A former Ghost Town Gridlock member) is probably getting a divorce and his wife is already talking about 'seeing other people'. I also learned yesterday that three (other) members of my past band Ghost Town Gridlock have reformed, without me. (Two of them had been working, they finally recruited the drummer) Thats a kick in the balls. Not that it was a big deal, but the timing was bad as my office mate here at work was out sick yesterday AND I had more 'on hold' issues with VZ yesterday. (I was in a queue that took 59 minutes and 40 seconds to answer. 20 seconds shy of a full hour, 1/8 of my work day)
So, how much do I owe ya'll?
QOTD: If you could cut the ends off of time and your whole life was cropped to this one week, how would you say you were doing?

Well, ya know, this week hasn't been too bad so far. I did pretty well in the Nur Ein Round 0 rankings and some comments from one of the judges suggest that the song was fine, distortion in the mix was the problem, and that's something I can fix. And I have my new song written and am started tracking (I have a decent vocal track, which is the one thing I have to have "home alone" time for, everything else is done direct anyway). And I even squeezed in a last minute song for "A Problem of Perspective" and got some cover art sent in.
The big life crises that started with Halloween pretty much wrapped themselves up with the taxes getting sent off, so I'm not quite so stressed as I have been. New stuff will come up, I'm sure, but at least it feels like a brief reprieve.
And I found my MP3 player yesterday, which had been missing for several weeks. We "caught" one of the cheaters over at TuneFlow in the act, and management is actually paying attention! And probably some other good stuff happened.

I spent yesterday in ER due to shortness of breath and dizziness, and fortunately called my doctor instead of stepping on the train to DC. They ran every cardio, blood and sonagraphic test to see if it was a heart, lung or clot issue. I'm one healthy guy, apparently. But life has been intense lately. I'm now on a stress mgmt plan (or, well, planning to be) and taking some cute little pills that help relax me before sleep. And here I thought Valium was so 70s!
QotD: so, can I start my week from today?

Today is a great week - because I quit work!!
On Friday I become officially unemployed and a man of leisure!
Actually - no that's wrong, this week sucks a bit because I am very busy, but next week will be a great week because I will be officially unemployed and a man of leisure!

1. Yeah, that sounds like the beginning of a panic attack. Been there. I had to make some changes in my life at that point back when.
2. No.

QotD: I'd like to request a different week.
DRC: Today was alright. Nothing special bad or good. Pretty tired though. Don't even have the energy to finish this sent

I just got home from work, so my day is just starting. Glad to be out of the woods as far as Round Zero of Nur Ein goes; man, judging takes more time than I expected. Listened to all 26 songs 5-10 times, tweaked my list over and over again, and then put a chunk of time into reviewing. It's too bad the judging happens on the weekend, as I have near-unlimited time to listen to music Monday-to-Friday at work. Anyway, now that round zero is out of the way, tonight I've got to send some radio-friendly bleeped mixes off for The Grammar Club, after which I will be able to play some much-needed GTA IV. I've been asked to censor some objectionable words (like "goddamn" and "stripping") so that the band can, I don't know, become a smash hit on Christian radio or something. I find the whole idea of watering down our songs in order to reach a broader audience pretty repugnant, so I've been dragging my feet on it for weeks. But hey, that's pop for you.
QOTD: I apparently spend my life working too much and listening to music. Actually, this week is pretty representative.
