that's cool Katya! Feel free to use "just say booger" as you see fit if you like. I'm sure eric (e-money) wouldn't mind you using his song either. glad you liked it. :)

roymond is in with any of my old ones you already know. There are two new ones with the kids but not sure what our recording schedule will look like.

Thanks, guys! Man, I just love the idea of working with fighters again. It's been since Halloween '06, Roymond! Here are some Open Collaborative Compilation Projects for the netlabel, and here are some Musical Artists who are gearing up for releases.

Don't worry about the way things look now. The site will be awesome looking in a couple of weeks after I start the coding and the illustrators get their hands on it. This is historical, after all, as the first kids netlabel ever. Thanks to the New York Times, Boing Boing and other heavy promotion, you can bet that your music is going to be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people.

I've got a band with my sons called The Yellow Crayon is Missing but it is still in its crazy noise rock stages. As it evolves, I may send some of their songs your way.

Hey sounds like my kind of thing. I've been meaning to do another take on 'Kids are Best, grown Ups Are Dumb' from that JB's Mom's ... comp, or maybe something new ...

Someone should flag this up to Smalltown Mike, for his kids' punk band, if he hasn't stumbled on it already?

I did indeed stumble upon it; thanks very much. Looks like a great project, and I'm checking it out.

Soooooo, how does this work? Who owns the rights to what? Is there some sort of selection process for what music is on your label? Are you selling anything?

I'm not trying to be a wet blanket, just trying to understand how it all works.

That's cool, Erik. Fair questions.

Soooooo, how does this work?
It is a netlabel that provides free music, audio books, print toys and other fun stuff to kids. We are encouraging kids to submit content, as well.

Who owns the rights to what?
Copyrights belong to the artists and writers. We are hoping artists will go for the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike License, so that we can mirror on the Internet Archive. This particular license means that:
(a) if your content is used by others, users must note that you made it
(b) no one can make money using your content without getting your consent
(c) if anyone modifies your content (like remixes), they must then share what they create with this same license

However, all artists are welcome to choose whatever copyright system they prefer. From full rights to public domain, it is all written into the online submission form.

Is there some sort of selection process for what music is on your label?
We are building a staff who can help out with A&R and deciding if the material is appropriate.

Are you selling anything?
No, no way. This is all volunteer, all for the kids. Several of us were part of another netlabel in the past called Comfort Stand. We had a pretty bizarre catalog of free music! Check it out!
