Wednesday, June the 4th.

Well, schools out for the summer, and I'm off to Gainesville soon to help out my brother, who has just moved from North Carolina. It's raining here in Tampa, which it (uncharacteristically) hasn't done in weeks. It's bone dry, and we've needed it. It's thundering and lightning, but not raining too hard.
QOTD:
Rain, do you love it or hate it?
I like dark thunderclouds with long steady rain, but not too much thunder and lightning, then when the rain is over it stays overcast and cool the rest of the day. I like hearing the thunder roll in from a distance, 'cause you know it's going to cool off a little. It's nice to sit on the porch and watch.
Feel free to tell us what you like, little drizzles, big thunderstorms, something in between? Do you avoid it, or still go out and play in it?

Interesting timing. Because: holy crap, but did we have a nasty storm roll through a couple of hours ago. Maybe the biggest I've ever seen that wasn't a hurricane. Do I like it? It's pretty cool, although I could do with somewhat less violent ones. Have to see at home if there was any tree damage etc.

QotD: Rain is almost always an inconvenience to me. It makes travel more difficult, and it's bad for business.

Yeah, we mostly like rain here in Arizona, even though it generally screws up rush hour totally 'cause nobody here knows how to drive in it. However, given that we only get seven inches a year, and the rest of the time we steal from California, we generally don't complain when we get a little. And hopefully when it rains in Phoenix, it's snowing across most of the northern half of the state, building up snowpack that will turn into water during the warmer weather.
Arizona actually has a monsoon climate - half the year our weather comes up from Mexico, the other half it comes down from San Francisco and beyond. The "monsoon" is that point in time when the winds are changing direction. We're about to enter the June monsoons, which I think is when we stop getting California's weather and start getting Mexico's leftovers.
DRC: been doing a bunch of recording, and have been having much fun with doing backing vocals - four tracks, the "third above" harmony doubled, spread across the soundfield.

While there are times when I hate (bad timing issues), I generally celebrate storms. As I did in my
Thunderstorm.

qotd: I love rain. Light showers, endless drizzles, huge thunderstorms ... it's all great for me. Rain energizes and rejuvenates me. For work, it sucks - but that's for only a few more years. When I'm a teacher, I hope to live in BC to avoid Alberta's terrible weather patterns and get some wonderful rain.

I like the rain, but not for too many days in a row. Those brief afternoon showers that some places get would be OK, like in New Mexico in the summer, but when it's cold and drizzly for a week straight, I start fitting the noose.

Ohh, I love rain. Not thunderstorms or hailstorms so much, but every other kind is cool. Cigarettes taste better in, or, uh, near the rain. I don't play in it per se, but I try to stand around in it, at least a little bit, whenever it does happen (not often around here). Kinda John Locke-style (bald guy from Lost). I've never had the luxury of getting sick of it. Because I never travel. Hey, that blends nicely into that other QoTD! Pretty smooth, me!

I got a new job yesterday. I'll be working for a company called HWR Media doing print layouts. So pretty much what I was doing for the last company I worked for, but for a higher hourly rate. Nice.
QOTD: I like rain. Its not often that we get it, though.

My album is coming along great. When I first started doing Song Fight I did it with the idea that I'd use it to write songs for a new album, and that's more or less how this has turned out, although it took quite a few more years than I was expecting. But I think the wait is worth it.
Basically I'm taking songs from Song Fight and AAW and a few other ones that I never got around to finishing up for other things and rerecording them (in some cases completely!) with what I've learned. The older the song the more different it becomes. So far most of them have just been a matter of rerecording the vocals, tweaking the arrangement, and redoing the mastering now that I know how to make things not sound completely terrible. I only started on Sunday and I already have 7 tracks done (or close to it), and I expect there to be 16 or 17 tracks in the end (since my songs are generally 2-3 minutes long).
The name is still 'foodsexsleep,' which has been the working title since I wrote I LOVE YOU in 2001.
qotd: It depends on the intensity, severity, and duration, and where I am when it hits. I love strolling through the light misty rain of Seattle. I hate the heavy who-keeps-lobbing-water-balloons-at-me rain in the San Francisco springtime. I always enjoyed being indoors during the Las Cruces monsoon season and hearing the wonderful cacophony of nature vs. artifice, and it was even fun to run around in sometimes (what with it always being so warm, almost like taking a hot shower). I like driving in heavy rain if nobody else is around, and I hate driving in light rain no matter what (especially if it's in that weird middle-ground where it's not quite heavy enough to run your wipers but too heavy to not run them).

Here.
I like rain.
Seems like all my days lately seem long. We're about 7 weeks into our home addition. The architect was good, so far our contractor is kicking butt, but it just takes a toll, living in a house where walls are missing but boarded up, all the furniture is moved around, etc.... The good news is that our city was a total pain in the butt, so it took like 3 extra months getting all the approvals. Why is this good news? The subcontractors are all available and teh materials consts went down - so our project is both faster and cheaper than expected - hey look! a pig just flew by!
Yeah - so there ya go.
I'm tired. (nur ein ain't helpin' none either)

Huh! I was just going through some of my old song fragments and notes and such (holy crap I have a lot of this stuff) and I found that I'd written a Convalescence which I never got around to finishing the lyrics or recording. I had completely forgotten about it. Definitely recording it for the album.

One person dead and 500,000 people without power. Luckily no damage at the house, we live north of where the tornadoes were.

Yeah! Great lightening from my hotel window, though. A guy on my team was held up by that car that got crushed. I was waiting for the cranes to fall across the street in Chevy Chase.

QotD: Cold rain sucks. But summer showers are awesome to walk in. It feels great on days I work cuz it's like 95 and I'm sweating my ass off for min wage.
Actually we're supposed to have a really bad storm here tonight. The winds have been extreme all day but it's not all that cloudy.. yet.
