drc: still sick, but getting better. I think. Just for the hell of it I tried some antihistamines and they didn't help at all so I know it's a virus. Meh.

qotd: Jack, everything okay down there?

Yeah, Jack, hope all is well.

DRC: I finished off two more songs for my tuneflow-related project, which is now up to twelve songs, so that kinda qualifies as an album. I PM'd the guy whose songs I'm covering and asked if he had one he wanted me to add to the project, so that may be thirteen, but... I worked out a first cut song order today (note to self: when recording an "album," be careful not to make seven of the twelve songs in the key of E or Em, makes it difficult to do "rising keys" song order), made a CD and listened a couple times, and was very pleased.

Yeah, speak up Jack - are you alright?

OK, another dream with SF!ers in it. I know, other peoples dreams and all, but I got nothing else. Last night I dreamt that my mother was making me (!) take her mother to Australia. Interesting, as my grandmother has been dead for nearly twenty years. I was all pissed about it, and even further upset that Caravan Ray now lives in New Zealand and not where I was going. All of a sudden, I'm in a pharmacy, stateside, with Mr. Ray who is getting a prescription filled. Whatever it was, it was taking a long time, and it was somehow due to his not knowing how things work 'over here'. He wasn't as impressed that we were together as I was. shrug.

A couple of weeks ago, Blue showed up in a dream. He was at an intersection in the woods, chopping trees. I left and he remained there, going about his chopping.

So: Spud, JB, Roymond, Blue and Caravan Ray have all made visits to my slumberland. See what happens when you quit the weed? Things get weirder!

Paco, maybe you should be writing a more detailed version of these dreams as you have them. Then when you have enough, write a screen play and make a movie like Big Fish. I like movies that combine fantasy with reality that involve multiple stories that are connected by the main character(s). I know there's a name for this style and Ross told me once, but I can't think of it at the moment. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Still one of my top favorites of this kind of movie because the stories were real stories through history of that era and good music. Forrest Gump is a classic using this style.
Do it!

jack is still alive despite nature's best efforts to burn him out. :)

the bonny doon fire is still pretty much out of control, little to no containment, approaching about a thousand acres now.

Bonny Doon is just north of Santa Cruz, maybe 5 miles up highway 1. The fire is up in the hills but there's still alot of hippies and freaks (and regular folks) living up there. the roads are one lane nightmares though, and the last 2 days the wind has been whipping shit around. I'm not in any real danger where I live but a guy I work with lives less than a mile from the evacuation center for this fire.

meh. that video was lame. i'll see if i can find the one i saw yesterday with all the helicopter shots.

Yeah, I knew it was a ways up the road from you (and that you're well within Santa Cruz proper) but still, considering the size and the sensationalism of it I thought there might be at least an evacuation risk for you anyway.

Glad to hear you're okay.

thanks man!

it's pretty crazy but this fire is really not that far from UCSC (University of California Santa Cruz), and in fact one of the main roads that goes to campus (empire grade road) goes right up to martin, ice cream, and all the other grades that are now on fire. UCSC is a huge, immense chunk of dry grassland and redwoods and if the fire were to hit campus, we'd have a major problem here.

2 big fires here within one month. and it's only early june. that's scary.

Yeah, I figured you were a bit up PCH, but still, that fire is growing. You'd think it would be contained by now. Glad you're ok.
