I'll post this in
the collab section, but I'm feeling creative for this weeks title.
We're going to write a pop song.
This is open to all. It will be at 140BPM.
I'll post an 8 count verse and a chorus rhythm/melody in the collab section. Send me 8 count verse and chorus clips of what ever you play to fit my rhythm guitar. Other guitar players, feel free to work off my rhythm because I will probably pull my rhythm out in the final cut.
In 16 count clips at 140bpm, I need:
Lyrics
A drummer or drum loops
Guitar
Bass
Keys
Horns
Caravan Ray's finger
Any instruments (shakers, triangles, blocks, etc) NO TAMBOURINES!
Back up vox (after I do the lead main vox)
Background sounds
Background voice (ahhhs and oooz)
I'll need your clips no later than 07/11/08 so that I have the weekend to create. I'll fill in any instruments that don't get filled.
The Collaboration thread.

The title begs the question - Peas sure taste divine? (sorry, hopefully this will mean something to a british someone of a certain age)
Uhhhhmmmm, no promises but having written songs and not entered them for the last four SFs I might just slip out of semi-retirement for this one ...

I plan to be in. I decided the theme for my 3rd album is going to be comedy so expect something funny (or attempting to be) from Rone for this one.

As long as I can get someone to do drums on this, I'm in. Everything's recorded, except drums. This is a rarity for me- two fights in a row! I don't think I've pulled that off since like 2003.

I don't normally make a habit of announcing my intended entry into a SongFight! but I will be in for this one, the track is recorded, the non-sensical lyrics are mostly written and will be posted in the usual place prior to the fight's commencement, I'm already looking forward to J$ and Billy's Multi-faceted Trip, I'm doing something I've never done before, this will not be an electronica entry!!!

I'm gonna go ahead and submit what I recorded last night, so that I'll have to rest of the week to do stuff for BLT.

I took a not so obvious approach to the obvious take on this week's title: a French hymn. I've finally gotten some summer employment, so this is recorded, mixed and submitted all in one day; we'll see how the rush job holds up.

So I've written the best song ever because I'm a huge musical genius and halfway through recording, my laptop bricks. Processor finally burned out, I think.

So far, I've had 87 tambourine clips sent to me and they all sound like Tracey from the Partridge Family. Do you think she's f**king with me?

Sorry dude... I totally missed the "NO" in front of "TAMBOURINES!" and thought you would be excited about all the clips...

I'm getting my old bandmate (from, like, 6 years ago) to lay down drums for me. I kinda started late on this song, but if I don't have to worry about drums, I can spend more time on the mix. If I can get him to lay the drums for me, I'll be submitting this under our old band name, for old times' sake.

Def. in now... got 98% of the recording done (vocals suck, gonna give it another try*). My friend Matt was able to lay down a very impressive drum track. Submitting under 'Glennwood'.
(EDIT: *Alcohol needed before second attempt)
(EDIT #2: Just noticed that Weakest Suit and myself have the same number of posts at 346, back to back... It may be the screwdriver talking, but that's pretty freaking awesome if you ask me)

You know I don't often notice the number of posts, but damn how did BLT get so much more than everybody else?

Further to my previous post, I've decided not to enter this weeks SongFight! for the following reason...
The song I had prepared was/is probably one of the better things I've ever done, but baring that in mind it's still basically a heap of crap compared to the wealth of talent that is on display here, week in, week out...
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's taken the time to say nice things, and especially those that have made much better versions of the nonsense I usually come up with.
Hope to catch up with some of you guys on the flip side.
All the best, Nigel.

I might be in with one of the best things I've ever done. I decided not to ruin it with my own singing, so I got a friend in Edmonton to record some vox and send them, but I haven't seen anything yet. Fair warning: if she pulls through, we're gonna rock yer socks.
