It's hot and muggy in NYC and I'm not enjoying it. Otherwise, I've been writing some new lyrics which is always a good thing. My kids are starting camp today and I'm very excited for them. And I'm preparing for a business trip in a few weeks to Annapolis. Woo-hoo.

QotD: It looks as though Miriam Webster has just announced their new word additions for the year. It is a great musical term- mondegreen, which is the word for a misheard lyric. I love awesome new words, so my question of the day is: Do you have any interesting words to share?

i read an article once about words that are unique to one language. i can't remember any of the words, as they all had strange spellings, but the definitions were great. my favorite was "walking through water, searching for something with your feet."

The online Kiribati dictionary contains over 350 seperate words for "coconut" or things relating to coconuts.

karáunoa. to pluck a single coconut from a bunch gently.
kaonæn/ti. to engage in stealing bunches of coconut by sliding them down a long rope.
íningáoa. carry a coconut by the teeth in descending from the tree.
óta. bind a coconut tree with a coconut frond to prevent the stealing of coconuts
ámakai. coconut in its sixth stage of growth.
rænimáuna. an old coconut without milk, in the 10th stage
