Oh, Jeez, yeah, like, a million!
Many of my suggestions would focus on eat and drink. If you tell me what your eating / drinking proclivities are, I will fashion a tailor-made list of options for you.
(i.e. "I am a vegetarian who likes foofy drinks with umbrellas in them." or "I subsist on steak and cigars.")
At what hour are you arriving in Portland on Monday? Also, where are you staying?
If you weren't about to go hiking, I'd suggest Powell's...but noone wants to lug a bunch of books around hiking.

I should be in Portland by 2:30pm, and then have to drive across the Bridge of the Gods on Tuesday morning to meet with the hiking party.
I wasn’t thinking about food, more like arts / and music scene?
Any places for public performers / art galleries, without going into hobo areas?
I’ll probably end up staying near the airport.
Also any good public transportation from PDX to the Bridge of the Gods ?
And yes steak and cigars is my type of place (cant you tell from my pic ?)
I should probably Google some of this, but for some reason the only web site my browser has access to is songfight.net

OK, if you're staying out by the airport, then I doubt your commitment to actually seeing the sights of our fair city! C'mon! By the airport??
I'd propose the
Hawthorne Youth Hostel before I'd put you out with the conventioners and whathaveyou!
Portland is pretty damned safe -- no need to worry about that aspect.
Monday is not the greatest day for seeing stuff, unfortunately... Beer fest is the next weekend, though!
I see that
Pete Krebs is playing on Monday night at the "Maiden in the Mist." He's quite the Portland fixture, and might be worth seeing -- depending on your proclivities.
There is no public transit to Bridge of the Gods -- it's a good hour outside of town. Get a car or a ride out there. And! On the way, take the scenic highway (exit 17 off of rte 84) and check out all the beautiful falls along the way. (Multnomah falls being the most famous of that collection.)
I'll tell you if I hear of any other neat stuff happening on that evening.

The free weekly came out today, and I see that there is also a Boston band called "Harry and the Potters" playing at the Wonder Ballroom that night... evidently they sing about Harry Potter. (This seems to me like a ripoff of our local-ish band
Bloodhag, which sings 1 minute grindcore songs about science fiction books, and grants free admission to anyone who writes a book report about a book of science fiction) What the hell, it might be entertaining. Also happening is live Karaoke at Dante's downtown.
I'm glad you opted out of the Airport! I think you'll have a much more Portland-y time closer in! Give a holler via PM if you're looking for camaraderie in Stumptown!

[sleep deprived]... hey i had a blast in the pacific northwest; mostly just backpacking in the mt st Hellene, mt rainier areas, but I've enjoyed my 2 days in Portland as well.
thx for the recommendations;
Powell's was pretty cool, got a book "Plato and a Platypus walk into a bar.." that had me laughing all week long,
and also checked out Pete Krebs @ Maiden in the Mist... a bit more django jazz than i was expecting, but enjoyable non-the-less.
i highly highly recommend the soup and flan from Maiden in the Mist...specially the flan! yummy.
