Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

The weekend is here, and it brings with it the end of a mostly unenjoyable semester for me.

as for the question, I had a fairly shitty week, as I had to write/do all my finals this week, as well as hand in a bunch of final projects that I left to the last minute. For the first time since I started at this school, I had to settle for just good enough on a lot of projects and tests. This will be my first semester that I haven't gotten 100% in at least one course, though I did get 100% on a midterm that was labeled as the hardest test we'll ever write in this school. So yeah, in short, this past week I have seen my academic standards and achievements drop significantly due to the apathy, laziness, and procastination that prevented me from graduating high school. It's been a pretty shitty week.

QOTD: My week was good as for business, but I was hit with one tragic heart wrencher after another all week. I've tried to stay in good spirits the best I can, but inside I'm aching. I lost a good Internet friend in a car accident, another friend is painfully dying with cancer and my older sons friend that I've known since he was 10 years old, overdosed on heroin last Saturday. He was 24.
The only way I know how to deal with it is to push it down as deep as I can and continue on as I normally would. But I feel very fake at the moment. Like I'm two people. Fuck it, I'm holding up a Rum and Coke in their honor. Rest in peace my friends.

Roll Call: I'm playing at the Seven Barrel Brewery tonight. Right now I'm gonna watch The Great Muppet Caper with the boys.

QotD: It was a beautiful and terrible week. And here comes another one.

Well, I took a work trip to Houston just in time to catch Hurricane Ike, came back to Austin just in time to work a full day anyway, and then had work canceled on Friday (and today, but I wasn't going to work today anyway) for the tropical storm-level Ike-related winds in the area. So all in all, it was a decent week. I made quota at work, anyway.

Going bowling tonight. Wheeee.

DRC: I was planning to do an album a day either Sunday or Monday but I just don't have the ability. So I'm gonna do a album a weekend. I think. I'll get at least 3 or 4 songs anyway.

QotD: Yeah, this week sucked. I'm actually sick today. But it won't stop me from making music.

qotd: I had a somewhat shitty week. Burned my arm at work, but not too badly. Hurt my knee somehow (must've been drunk, I don't remember), but it's not that bad either. Argued with my girlfriend more than usual this week.. that kinda sucks, but it'll be ok. But yesterday someone stole my kid's bike. She's 5 years old. What kind of asshole does something like that? So yeah, that makes it officially a shitty week.

My week wasn't bad, but kind of boring.

However, last night me and Jeff (Jeff Travis Henderson to you songfighters) got to chill with Elton John for about half an hour, so that was amazing.

I had a kinda bad week, although it was more in terms of my own emotional state than about any actual bad stuff happening... as some of y'all know, I got laid off from Motorola about five years ago and have just never gotten it back together to go back to work, and now with the Mrs. taking some time off teaching, money has been especially tight. I have spells when I feel particularly bad / guilty about all this, and the past week was one of those. So, yeah, nothing bad happened, I just felt bad about some other stuff that didn't happen...

Also, I guess I've been letting some bad reviews over at that other songwriting site get to me - which is stupid, because I know that almost any review that comes from that site is suspect. Thinking that maybe the whole King Arthur identity has about outlived its usefulness... I've known for a long time that I'm too old to be playing rockstar anymore, I guess it's just really hit home of late. Looking into maybe focusing on writing some worship songs for a while (although the fact that my own church doesn't use my worship songs dampens some of that enthusiasm, too).

Family issues re: caring for mom seem to have settled down, and I have at least received some reassurance that the rest of the family isn't ganging up on my or anything...

Actually, the high point of the week so far has been that at some point the Mrs. made a comment that I ought to shave off the beard (probably because I ran out of Just for Geezers beard color a while ago and haven't bothered to restock, so it's coming in Jerry Garcia white lately). Which I happily did yesterday, since I really never have liked having it... whenever I look at myself in the mirror, it just shouts "old guy trying to look cool and failing" and compared to that, I'd just as soon just look like "old guy." Been growing the hair out a little bit longer, too...

Went for about 10-15 secs. Like the whole house was sort of rolling

Freaking weird!

I really hope Mt Taranaki starts erupting

That will be just so cool

QotD: No comment

But the weekend's been great. Soccer and tennis with the boys yesterday. Today we've got a stoop sale, homemade lemonade, cookies and cup cakes going on. It's a perfect, hot NYC summer day with lots of street traffic. The kids are raising Halloween costume money. I finished some required online training listening to Ani Difranco's latest.

I'd read your book if you ever write one. Coming from me, that's saying a lot :P

Have you ever considered starting your own swimming pool service? It's quite lucrative and kick back. I remember you saying that you take care of your Mom's pool. AZ is a booming swimming pool market. One facet of my business is selling pool routes and setting guys/girls up in business for them selves. If you are interested, I'll help you, free of charge of course.

BLT:

The seven words I regret most in my entire life: "Sure, honey, let's put in a pool!"

Thanks, but there are several reasons why a swimming pool service would very likely be my nightmare job of jobs...

Ha! I'd think a pool would be a must where you live, which is why pool service companies do so well in AZ.
