I have a new respect for the Xbox.

Yeah, the big ass old ugly original Xbox. I got one for next to nothing the other day, and immediately hacked it. Of all the consoles I've exploited to run unsigned code, only the Dreamcast was easier (you just burn ISO images in a certain way, and they'll work), but the Dreamcast doesn't have a hard drive in it... I used a soft mod (no modchip, basically just a bit of tricky hard drive swapping to get access to the Xbox HDD). After upgrading to an old 80GB drive I had, I installed XBMC (Xbox Media Center) and it is the greatest thing ever. I can stream my music and movie collection from my PC, and it even has a current weather conditions plugin... sadly, no TV tuner, but I can schedule TV recordings on my PC, and they'll automatically show up in XBMC. I can copy game discs to the HDD and run them from there (Halo2 loads in about 10 seconds) and I tried running Linux (Xebian) but it sucks without a keyboard/mouse. I need to make an adapter for USB (the controller ports are just USB ports in a weird shape). Anyway, this is fun.

Just putting that out there.

Yeah, I just bought one for $15 back in May, already hacked with a bunch of Atari and Genesis ROMs. Unfortunately for me, I think whoever meddled with it is also responsible for certain games freezing at odd intervals. Still, it's been nice playing back through the Prince of Persia series.

Try the SNES emulator. Super Mario World was, and still is, my favorite platformer, and it runs great on Xbox.
