Hey everyone.

I'm really hankering to get back into the music. If anyone is looking for some lyrics, I'm always available. Also, I really want to get back into the recording and performing. I'm about to have my 5th anniversary at SF (actually, I was already posting in the forum at this time 5 years ago, but I didn't post a song until late November) and I'd really like to do a long streak of entries instead of my usual sporadic style. Perhaps with a band if I can find some willing hooligans.

QotD: Is there a song of yours in the SF Archive that you wish you could get rid of?

QOTD: at first i thought, "yeah, i'd like to get rid of And Counting". but then i reconsidered. every time i enter a song i don't like that much i always justify it internally by saying "at least it's not as bad as And Counting" and that always seems to make it better. so i guess i don't have one i'd like to get rid of, but a lot of ones i've forgotten about.

funny, just yesterday i was doodling around and came up with a beautiful folky guitar riff and was thinking how cool it would be to build a song around it and add Niveous lyrics to it.

the thing is, i kind of forgot how it went by now, tho sure there was a capo somewhere..and even tho is a pain in the ass i need to load protools once again on my PC.

QOTD: NO, call it a self documentary of my ascend to less crappy music?

DRC: My stomach is all messed up. I shouldn't drink on Sundays ever.

QotD: Yes.

We get requests to remove songs from the archive from time to time. In fact someone recently asked to have their entire archive removed, because they were "really not comfortable with (their) high school dabblings advertised as (their) music". It is our policy not to honor these requests unless there is a legal issue (i.e. copyright infringement) involved. To quote from the FAQ: "By submitting your song, you are authorizing us to post it permanently". Word to the wise - once you put it out there, it's out there.

QotD: Oh, you mean those songs where you record and mix them (on cheap headphones) at 4:00am after drinking a dozen beers and think they sound 'fuggin AWESOME' so you submit them? Yeah, a couple.

Oh, I knew that when I asked the question. I just wondered how many people wished they could get rid of a song and perhaps what song that was.

Look at the 49 songs I've been a part of at Songfight, there are a few that I cringe at but only two I really struggle with- "So Kind Stacey" by Silent E (which was an epic fail. Silent E got much much better with time) and "Blueberry Hassle" by Suave Noise Youth (because it came from such a truly negative place). But I wouldn't want to get rid of any song from my archive of work. Good or bad, it's part of my history.

I figured you knew it, Niv. I was just heading off a rush of requests...

QotD: p++'s "Cur" should have never seen the light of day.

Blueberry Hassle by Suave Noise Youth holds an important place for me in SF lore. But you knew that.

I wish I could replace my Fight The Sea with a version that didn't have such sucktacular drums. I'm re-recording that one over at the new studio, actually. But yeah, it's out there, and that's the way it is.

There are a lot of flawed entries, and I'd certainly like to replace a lot of them with versions with better vocals from me... but I wouldn't want to delete any of them. Looking at the list just now I can think of at least one good thing about every one. Even what's probably the worst, "Galaxies", has a good solo in it. It's weird.

QOTD: I'd like to rerecord and mix all of my songs with the proper time needed, but I never will. Pretty much at this point, someone would have to pay me to do it. :D

"Listen Close"

I mean most of my songs from 2001 fucking sucked but that one took the cake and smeared it all over itself in a softcore porno.

My new goal is to find a lurid turn of phrase which BLT can't turn into an animated smiley somehow.

He has a lot of something on his hands, but it doesn't smell like time.

Sorry, Spud...

"Prayer for Pancakes" was not an official fight and should not be in the archives. If I had known it was going to be treated as a fight and all the entries were going to be marked "winner" I would not have participated...

The reason that I am so bothered by that one is that if I send someone to my songfight artist page, the ONE SONG on there that is marked "winner" is something I cranked out in 30 minutes in support of the community. So not only did it deprive me of the King Arthur championship of the world, it also "advertises" the worst sf song I've done...

I dunno, but I think it's also fair to say that some people didn't realize their songs were awful when they first posted them.
