DRC: Hey everyone.
I'm listeningto the radio today, waiting to hear what the new GnR single sounds like. I can't believe that Chinese Democracy is actually coming out next month. I never thought it would happen.
QotD: Do you pay attention to music charts (like Billboard, Oricon, Radio and Records)?
One reason why I do the top 10 thread is because I grew up being obsessed with the Billboard charts. I would complain about going to church because I was going to miss Casey's Top 40. I owned several copies of Joel Whitburn's Book of Top 40 Hits and spent frightening amounts of time reading it. It wasn't until the early 90's that I started to shy away from my love of Billboard. I was listening to Z-Rock (which was an AM Metal station) and WDRE (a NY/Philly New Wave station) and their chart show and I began to realize how fragmented the Billboard charts were. How could these songs be such huge hits on these stations and barely crack the top 40. I began to question what was "popular music". I stopped reading Billboard. But I will always love music charts.

QOTD: I don't pay attention to charts. They tend to only put songs on it that I don't care for. But I remember Casey's top 40 way back when. It was interesting to watch.
By the way, I wonder if Dr Pepper is still going to give every person in America a DP when GnR's Chinese Democracy comes out?

I'm more interested when I see a chart from what was popular 10, 20, whatever years ago and see how tastes have changed. Plus, I probably know way fewer acts on the current ones.

QotD: No.
DRC: The Horror Fest @ The Masquerade moved my band (The Funeral Dazies) back to a 1:00am slot just yesterday. We've been planning this trip for months and they keep changing the time we're supposed to load in. It went from 1:00pm in the afternoon to 'two hours prior to our play time' which was 12:00 at the time... then they changed it to THREE hours before...then they ultimately changed the time we play 'till 1:00am in a city who's bars close @ 2:00am. (was 4:00am when *I* lived there)
All of a sudden driving 16 hours (8 each way) in two large vehicles weighed down with various equipment guzzling down gas doesn't seem worth it.
We will not be playing in Atlanta tomorrow night

Aside from the long intro, it rocks pretty hard.

But it's not catchy in the least.

Yeah, the hook for me is the guitar. So I guess if you're looking for catchy vocals, I see where you're coming from. But that's just the title track, don't give up just yet.

I could have sworn that Chinese Democracy came out, like, a year ago. And furthermore, that I heard it and was unimpressed. Hm.
QotD: A while back, I realized that all countdowns are either based on sales, which I don't care about, or opinions of individuals or groups, which I'm mostly apathetic about, depending on the person. So no.

QotD: Well, I used to watch the top 20 countdown on VH1 alot. I don't have a chance to watch it anymore cuz of my job but that's about all the top lists I ever messed with. At least that one lets the viewers vote on it. If the music sucks it's our own faults.

I read Niv's top 10 every week, but mostly just to see if we're on it, and god damn if it didn't happen last week. Made my day. No - my week. I'm still talking about it, see?
