DRC: Hey everybody.

I just came off of a decent li'l weekend which included introducing my kids to Raiders of the Lost Ark. I also got the idea into my head of doing a film for my kids. More to come about that if I actually go through with it.

QotD: If you could go on a tour with any 3 songfighters, who would you choose?

QotD: Good one! I wanna tour with Glenn Case, Abominominous, and Dylan Nau. And a whole bunch of other SFers of course.

Unfair question. I would have to leave too many out.

QOTD: That's easy. Anti-M, Aardwolves and himynameisntmark.
...sorry Fluf, you'd be my number 4, but rooz is rooz.

Do you mean to have in my band or as separate acts and we all have our own bands?

Yay, I finished the stupid thing in two days that I'd been previously waiting for two weeks for the other engineer to do! And I made sure it worked on all sorts of weird-ass corner cases, which there are plenty of when you're doing arbitrary-column fetching and filtering from heterogenous tables where you have to deal with all sorts of crap with NULL values. (Anyone who has had to deal with anything nontrivial in SQL probably has an idea of what I'm talking about. And, for the math nerds out there, the problem is that SQL has different rules for transitivity for comparisons vs. sorting when NULLs are involved.)

qotd: If we are talking "which individuals would I like in my single touring band" I'd have to say Spud, Ken, and either Hoblit, Lunkhead, or Rabid Garfunkel (to maximize styles and instruments and dispositions I can get along with). If we're talking "who would I have a concert tour with assuming we each had our own full band" I'd have to say Marcus Kellis, whichever supergroup you get when you combine Ken/Merisan/Loyalty Day/etc., and Mico Saudad.

Hahaha! I can't believe you picked me, fluffy. You know, with that polka bassline and everything...

SPUD

I am going to include more people by going with bands:

1. Primitive Screwheads (bring Freudian Slip, would you?)
2. Johnny Cashpoint (I assume he can pull his own band together)
3. The Sweetleaves (That's Jack and Leaf and their friends)

Note that my criteria here is putting together a cohesive show.
Different criteria, different list.

You wouldn't be on bass, Spud. That would go to Hoblit or Lunkhead.

OK, so what's it called when someone leaves out an obviously valuable piece of information? I work with a guy who, when presented with an obviously leading question, he'll respond with "No, that's not the way it works" and leave you hanging for some insight to "how it works". Yet he NEVER goes there. He never offers anything not specifically asked of him. It's truly a pain in the ass and I spend time dreaming about his demise.

Not to rag on you, fluffy, but this seemed an appropriate time to bring it up.

Well obviously I meant Spud would be on other instruments. He plays a lot more than just bass. I'd want him to do flute, clarinet, piano, e-sax, etc. Just not bass.

QotD: Assuming full bands count then I pick Melvin, Brad Sucks, and Octothorpe. The 1st two are a given. And the 3rd was hard to choose cuz 95% of SF'ers su.. uhhh are hard to pick from.

No, no vocals in that list.

Today was a good day. It's always fun watching high school kids figure out that rocks are more interesting than they thought they would be.

QOTD: If we're asking who are the four I would take in my backing band. I'd have ot go witht eh Seamus collective: Seamus. Ken, and Evil-E.

If we're talking about the other four acts on the bill...I'd take the collective as my backing band :-). My brother Steve, who we woud also back, Paco - beacuse he has suggested a few times that we rock out together, and maybe State Shirt - because he's so damn nice and he can teach me how to loop on the tour bus.

Oddles more that I'd love to take - but that was what initially came to mind.

It's three, not four.
....oh, and thanks for not picking me, jerk face.

We'd love to - but she seems to have vanished from the face of the Earth completely.

qotd:

A. If you mean 3 other songfighters to complete band:
1. Glenn Case on guitar and backing vocals
2. Leaf on Drums
3. Frankie Big Face on bass and backing vocals

I'd probably like somebody like Spud (taking a page from Fluffy's book) to play a variety of instruments like a horn here and there, shakers, various percussion and keys etc... just to add a dynamic to a solid band.

Both Glenn Case & Frankie would get their own song on lead vocals.

B. If you mean additional acts on tour:
I'd rotate the following two...
1. The Frankie Big Face Band
2. ADD
...with 15/16 puzzle always the opener to my headliner.

If B was a festival I would also add Brad Sucks to the roster.

Keep working at it.

BTW, thanks for picking me to play bass!

Oh, three - so I'm ok with the backing band.

I'd still take Steve, and someone else who doesn't lash out at people by calling them "jerk face" - too much tension on the tour bus : insert some really cool smiley I don't have here:

If it's "who's in my band" it would be these three:
1. Starfinger - because our music meshes so well together and we're good friends.
2. Johnny Cashpoint - because I have the itch to do Dollar Bill & the Inkpoints live and also the same as 1.
3. roymond - because he was very good at figuring out what I was trying to do in my songs at Brooklyn.

If it's "what other bands are on my bill" that is tougher because I think it's challenging to match a similar sound. But let's think (leaving out the above folks because they're already listed):
1. Idiot Kings
2. State Shirt
3. Niveous
4. c.layne
... er, that's 4 but oh well.

Ignoring the question for the most part (like Spud says, too many left out, and I would like to play with each and every one of y'all), a WreckdoM-Booty Chesterfield Trio-Gert show would rip my face off...

Though a WreckdoM - Paco del Stinko - # - p++ tour would be an interesting trip.
