after an extremely brutal session, Heather demands i see doctor
doctor say CaT Scan, say appendix, say abcess, say antibiotics,says meet w/ surgeon
doctor say "if vomiting & fever, emergency room."

Saturday, work overtime. Start to feel cold.
go home. cold. super cold. shivering. nausea. super nausea.
call nurseline.
nurseline say leave message for doctor.
doctor call beck.
doc: what temp?
me: 100.5
doc: go emergency room.
me: fine.

go to emergency room.
check in.
strip.
FREEZING.
temp = 101.8
drink gatorade w/ barium solution for more CaT scan.
projectile vomit entire stomach contents.
scan anyway.
scan fail, due to vomited barium.
I.V. fluids, antibiotics, morphine, etc. etc.
more barium
all fluid diet
more CaT scan
surgeon and doctor disagree
erratic fever & pulse
monitor.
no food.
pee in bottle.

Sunday night, 6:00
hard to breathe
like someone is sitting on my chest
keeps me awake all night
nurse gives me morphine
tells me all kinds of heart related horror stories, totally blowing my morphine high.
sleep from about 1:30 am to 4:00 am.

Monday
Chest x-ray
EKG
Oxygen meter
MORE CaT scan, on chest this time
wait.
shower.
wait.
wait.
surgeon comes in during a game of Boggle with Heather.
says my appendix is healing itself with the antibiotics, doesn't want to operate.
I say fine.
Leave hospital.

eat.

home at 8:00 p.m.

will ask later about lungs.

Phil - interview the nurses next time. You have to weed out the ones that tell you shocking stories like that. I've had them too. What is it about helpless people laying in little light blue robes that makes these people want to go off on how "there was one guy...didn't last but two days, same thing you got!"?

Thanks for all the well wishin', gang. I feel pretty okay today, if a little tired. I tried a little holistic therapy last night (vanilla ice cream, hershey's syrup, spanish peanuts) and slept for a million hours.
