I got the obligatory shirts, drunk, a few CD's, and Andrew Johns' biography - so it's all good.

it's still xmas eve here. i ain't hauled yet.

Still christmas eve here ... though it hardly feels like christmas lately. Just not really in the mood. Should be fun anyways though - always is.

ps - in new zealand you say 'happy christmas'?

Still the night before christmas here, too. There probably won't be any haulin' as I'm just having dinner with some friends. I DID, however, get a subscription to Heavy Metal from my stepmother.

ps- don't ask questions about aussies, Reist. Just back away slowly, and try not to make any sudden movements.

Greetings of the season. I contributed nothing this year and made maybe one post on the message board so boo to me. I do have spokane marked on the calendar though so I might fly in for that.
My present haul was terrible as usual. Some de-icer and a mighty boosh dvd.

QotD: I gave ALOT more than I took in this year but that is kind of it's own reward. You know, having the ability to buy so much and still have a roof over my head!

So anyway, I got a $25 Wal-Mart card, a kewl t-shirt (will have to upload an image sometime, it's neat), an ECW Hardcore Heaven DVD, bought myself the Shred movie (Melvin, your songs only play for 5 seconds at a time!), and a new electric razor.

A non crappy ukulele (coming soon to a songfight near you)! Some boots that don't fit.

Happy Christmas, everyone!

I love being with my family at Christmas. Delicious food and alcohol. Wonderful. The parents have gone straight back into packing mode though, which is very much not fun. I think I'll be escaping the house quite a lot in the next few days to get away from the mountains of boxes.

QOTD: Not much this year, since the fam's moving, the brother and I are in college, and we're going to the UK in May for my parents' vow renewal. Did get some lovely new headphones and British candy from the extended family. And a rather lovely grey chapeau. A low-key, but lovely Christmas.

We got the family a Wii and some games this year and we've been having a great time all day. Phil got me a really cool wireless printer/scanner/copier, can't wait to use it, but haven't had time to set it up yet. Our daughter got an awesome dollhouse and my son got his first "big boy" bike from my parents. Phil's parents are on their way over and we have no idea what they got the kids. I got Phil a "rock and roll weekend" where he got to see D4, Big Business and The Melvins on 3 consecutive days.

So, yeah, overall it's been an excellent haul!!

It's a good Christmas here. We exchanged gifts, ate good and had merry. Still drinking as a matter of fact.
I got the usual array of my favorite candies, Ghirardelli chocolates, Lindor Truffles, etc. I love my chocolate. Also got a really nice assortment of beer from Belgium. Actually brewed and bottled in Belgium, then imported. About a year supply of guitar strings and picks, some shirts, a few awesome cooking utensils, like, a new stone mortar & pestle that I've needed since I finally broke my old mortar this past summer.
Now everyone has broken off to play board games, video games, etc. Getting ready to watch Hancock.

QotD: I got a pretty good haul that included a bunch of gift cards including one for iTunes (which I spent in a flash and then defeated the mighty m4p. Bwahaha). I also got a new gray hoodie, a couple of music DVDs, the DVD of Point Pleasant, Harry Potter Scene-It, some stuff to further my learning of Japanese, an Ocarina and Rock Band 2.

My Christmas is spread out over three days, due to extended family obligations (one day with the wife's family one with mine etc), so I've only got part of my haul. Got some shirts, a book called "An Army of Davids" about technology empowering individuals to compete with corporations, the government etc. A magazine featuring some houses in our neighborhood, and some other assorted stuff. My wife's family is really good about getting you stuff you don't ask for or even know you wanted, but when you get it, you wonder why you didn't ever want it because it fits you to a "T". So nothing huge, but the perfect gift.

A GPS and some bass technique books. Oh, and a man-hug. Twice. I am starting to wonder about that guy.

Wow, I'm jealous. I work for the local utility. The last thing we got from them were plastic water bottles with the new company logo on them (after yet another takeover). We used to get a new hat for every major storm that passed thru, but I can't remember the last time we even got one of those. I think I got an ill-fitting polo shirt (previous company logo'd) about ten years ago. Hmm... yeah, that's about it.

Maybe I should send my resume to NZ.

It looks like I'm a day late, but it seemed close enough. Also, I didn't feel up to thinking up a question of the day for today. (Oh, I could think up questions easily enough... just, well... nothing clearly related to the holiday season.)

Personally, I like to call the holiday Santa-nalia. The ancient Romans had a holiday on Dec 25 celebrating Saturn called Saturnalia. I don't go in for Saturn, but I consider Santa Claus one of our household gods. Alternatively, I also simply call it "Santa Day".

My Christmas haul was not note-worthy. Then again, I did forget to buy my wife a present altogether.

I've actually got a baby in the hospital. At one point we were thinking perhaps she would be coming home for the holidays. Now, well, she could still be coming home before the new year. She's doing well, she was just born early. We may have a longer hospital stay than full-term babies with other issues, but it has been a much more gentle stay than a lot of the full-term babies with other issues.

It seems like my baby got quite the Christmas haul this year, though most of it is because the baby shower was less than a week ago, and the baby hasn't actually seen all of her stuff yet. Most of it was not actually purchased for Christmas, but if she were older much of it could have been held back to Christmas. She is old enough to wear a Christmas dress, but not really old enough to know what is happening.

I'm actually concerned that I may not be able to squeeze out a song before the new year. Things could get real hectic for me real fast. It is sort of unpredictable, except that it is clear that the end is nigh.

I've been reading the manual to a program to help me avoid the sort of entry I did this past week. I think I'm just going to ignore the manual for now and check out enough examples to pop out an entry for this week. We'll see if I can manage it. While I get plenty of PTO, I plan to work as much as I can until the baby comes home. Once the baby is home, I may actually be able to do a couple of entries before going back to work, however that depends on how much sleep I'm getting.

Oh yeah, I got a GPS too. I haven't played with it yet. I really need one. If I was Christopher Columbus, you'd of never heard of me, because we would have been lost at sea.

edit: Come to think of it, that would be a great ad campaign. Christopher Columbus's men saying, oy Capt'n, the storm has tossed us about and we're lost. Christopher pulls out his GPS and punches is "land" and it gives him exact sailing directions to Plymouth rock.
