Everyone seems to be talking about how many entries there are for LMALBM...am I the only one who will slog through all of them? I listened to a few snippets, and I get the feeling that I'm gonna be voting for a whole lot of songs.
Onward...
I LOVE the title "Come Down Where You Ought To Be" and already have a melody in my head. I promise this one won't be a folk song!

Doubt I'll be in (I wanna take a good honest stab at FAWM this year), but I may throw something together just to be in.

Given current trends, that might not be advisable...

Just don't start writing it until 2/1, then submit it here and on FAWM. I expect to do that once or twice this month.

No, I'm listening to them all... in alphabetical order... remind me to thank LoO for his wonderful idea...

I might do this too...

Lyrics came unusually quickly for me, and the song might very well be a keeper. It's shaping up to be a kind of country ballad, actually, with a hint of Elvis Costello. ...at least that's how it sounds in my head.
I don't suppose anyone here has a pedal steel they know how to play?
Barring that, some brush drums would be awesome.

I actually came up with mine quickly too. It's basically done although I'm not submitting yet in case I want to mess around with it later.
It'll be a Rone submission this time. And much darker than the Country Martyrs song I did last week.

Two hard requests. If I still have a job this Spring, I think a pedal steel may be in my future. Either that or an electric cello.

If I can finish before tomorrow, I'll submit, if not, i won't have a chance. (If I do, it will be the first back-to-back submission I've done since I started in June-July '07)

Yeah, that's a tough one. Not to speak for him, but Lunkhead recently did some pedal-like guitar work on a song I can't recall. Good work, of course. And although he hasn't been around in a while, Sober may be a candidate for something. Heh, many things, I'm sure, but pedal likely.

Submitted. A lot of firsts for me in this one.
- Quickest finish from time fight released -- about 24 hours
- Quickest finish from time started working -- 2 hours from scratch*
- First official true genre crossover
- First use of FruityLoops to create a song
Off to Prep for FAWM...
(* Most of the time spent trying to smooth out the damn vocals--finally just gave up. Had stuff to do)

Damn, I was going to do this one for FAWM, but I wrote it last night before bed. Whatevs.

I'm thinking about doing a Rone cover over the next couple days. I'm really feeling the pain in his posted lyric for this one. Then maybe I'll get started writing my own Super Bowl morning - and submit
that to FAWM.

I had a guitar riff in my head for a few days before this title was posted and I was going to use it (and I guess I did (not that you can really hear it anymore)) but apparently inspired by a few horrible things I heard last night, I just made something... slightly above those horrible things in a level of horrible things all its own. But I have until the 9th, so who knows.... then again, maybe I'll make something even more horrible. None of which I'd be doing intentionally mind you, things just kind of happen.

And if I thought it was horrible, I wouldn't submit it. The thing is, the first version I made earlier might've been liked by more people but it felt like something I'd heard a million times before and I have this weird thing about making stuff that feels genuinely from me as an artist, so I kind of remixed it and turned it into something that I couldn't even justify to myself. So I guess I have to go back to the drawing board but I really don't have any idea what these lyrics are supposed to sound like, so maybe I'll just abandon ship.

Nope. When it comes to music competitions, my cheating days are over. As for the song I'm working on, it seems pretty decent. Better than my last few ones at least.

Well, a neat-o riff of sorts came to me today, so I started making a song out of it. Thus far it's pretty dang close to a finished structure, and I've just got a few more lyrics to write. I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to finish this up on time now that I've got my computer working again.

I'm happy to record some guitar (rhythm, lead or solo) for anyone who wants it, I won't be submitting my own stuff for this fight.

I've written a chord progression and recorded some instruments. 8 chords.. way more than I normally use.
What I'm stumped on this time is lyrics.

I'm definitely in this one, if I find the time... I'm making my girlfriend a CD of happy lovey dovey music for her birthday. Last week's song title worked OK for the project, but this week's will have to wait until Operation "Oh fuck I need a good present" is complete.
