Yes!!!

Save freedom on the internet!

How else will we get to learn about Ted Jesuschristgod , or Timecube ?!?!?!?

And how would Me$$iah get to read all his nutbag opinions from idiots like Richard Lindzen and Bob Carter about how anthropogenic global warming is not happening? Really Messiah!!! You of all people should realise that the sole purpose of the internet is to keep the clueless entertained!

Actually - your conspiracy theories are all absolutely correct. I am behind all of it. The spaceship with your anal probe should be arriving for you any day now. Get ready to succumb to my will.

Well, the video was a little shy on actual facts, but that's beside the point; they were obviously trying to get at my emotional side to get me to come to their website and read into it more.

What I don't get is this: Google has made a metric ton of cash by offering free services to people with ads tailored to their interests. Why would they want to shut the whole thing down? Where's the profit?

What about ISPs? Sure, if every Internet Service provider in the country could up their fees to hundreds or thousands of dollars a month and get away with it, they would. But the information simply doesn't cost that much to process, so if all the major companies did raise their prices and limit their speeds as described in the video, then other companies would come around offer the same service to which we've grown accustomed at more reasonable prices, and people would flock to those.

And the federal government? This video alleges that the U.S. Federal Government wants to shut down the Internet as we know it over a bunch of 9/11 conspiracy sites. It doesn't make sense. It didn't even make sense for Bush and Cheney, but now that we've got a new administration, one that owes its current power in large part to the Internet, and the fact that LITERALLY EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY has access to it? It would be downright stupid politically (not to mention morally) for Obama to be in favor of dismantling his own most powerful political weapon.

In short, I can't think of a single person or entity that has anything to gain by not keeping the Internet the way it is, nor a single person or entity with even the theoretical ability to do it.

Well Jon, in the enlightened words of a great anointed one, "if it does happen, he wont even be able to come here to post that he told you so." Image
...and I'm not referring to Ted, because Ted will be the only one to come here and tell us he told us so.

I'm at work and NOT on my lunch so I can't watch the video ...but is this part of the whole 'internet splitting into a two and three tier network' thing?

I've read a bit on that and THAT sounds plausible as long as those corporation's money is competing with the general public's cash per ISP. If that's in fact what this is about.

I'll bite:
Also, Me$$iah might be a little on the extreme side but there is a lot of merit to the basis of his fears. Its easy to accept 'the west is the best' attitude but its BECAUSE of that we have become so trusting of the system that is in place. We slowly give up privileges and rights because of this trust not to mention all of the other distractions that come with 'the good life'. By the time we collectively realize what went wrong it'll be way too late to do anything about it.

That's a point Me$$iah is making that I can buy into.
