drinking songs

Hey Songfighters,

I'm putting together a little site (drinkingsong.org) that is gonna feature a drinking song a day, with links to the original artist. And on St. Pat's it'll culminate in a playlist of steaming drunken revelry. Anyone got a good drinking song in their repertoire?

Cheers!

Jim

EDIT: I meant, of course, streaming drunken revelry. But the typo was too good to edit out.

A steaming pile drunken revelry.

Do you mean our original music, or by any major label artist? I've got 3 of my own I can think of off the top of my head. Rattlesnake, In the Valley and Kick Start.

Ghost Town Gridlock - Put One Down (Unmastered)

Feel free to tweak it...I never bothered to master that batch of recordings as that incarnation of that band changed shortly after the recording was made.

------------

We head out to the pub, order up a slice of heaven
Maybe a beer and a shot or perhaps we'll have a seven and seven

Take a shot of Jack and tilt your head back
Buy another round and put one down

Another bar, we blow things up with a depth charged Irish Car Bomb
Order up another beer and walk around with one each palm

Take a shot of Jack and tilt your head back
Buy another round and put one down
Put one down

Taverns all have that one ugly Train Spotting bathroom stall
We can't drive to get home, looks like we're gonna' have to crawl

Take a shot of Jack and tilt your head back
Buy another round and put one down
Put one down

Nice one. Got lyrics, by chance?

Also hey BLT: got lyrics for Kick Start?

Kick Start lyrics are here in the NE3 lyrics

Also, In the Valley is under William L Tripowtski and the Tripowtski players. Fun little project, by the way, I should call on Caravan Ray and Jeff for another one sometime.
Not sure if it's a drinking song, or just a party song in general.

You write like me. I don't know, it just made me laugh at first read, like Green eggs and ham or something.

ah... yeah... if you'll notice I went from grrr, beer and shot to (in my best uppity English accent) "perhaps we'll have a seven and seven". There is a little sarcasm there. I could have a beer and a shot ... or... perhaps SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT :-)

...and thanks guys! GTG appreciates it.

Now, if there is a drink called "a slice of heaven", it loses it's Green Eggs and Ham charm, but adds one more drink to the list. :P

...I would guess vodka, slice soda and on top, float one of those little communion wafers they put on your tongue at church.

AHHHH... no I wasn't making up a drink... I'm saying something like 'this (whatever) drink is a little slice of heaven'.

Hate to disappoint.

(Besides that, you know as well as I do that green eggs and ham is a real dish)

So yeah, you're both queued up. Awesome! Hobs, I won't be reworking anything because a) I'm too lazy, and b) rough edges suit the drinking song thing well. It's a good pint-raiser just as it is.

Anyone else want to kick in a drinking song? I sent Sober a message about his song Driving, which is an old favorite.

Ha, yeah, that song is great.

*Hoblit drives off to the next bar.

I once wrote a drinking song called "The Things I Should Have Done". It's been parked on my MySpace page for a while at:

http://www.myspace.com/nakedphilosophymusic

It's more of a "I'm so drunk that I'm depressed" kinda drinking song, though...

A great second to the last song in a set. The last one has to be a "fuck yeah, I'm wasted and tomorrow is a brand new day" song.

...by the way, I really enjoy the Naked Philosophy.

I'm pretty sure I wrote the greatest drinking song ever about 10 years ago. Problem is, I recorded a dozen different versions of it and never really liked any of them, so I don't have anything to offer other than the lyrics... maybe someone wants to record them.

I think I may have... been drinkin too fast
I was in too much of a hurry... to have a blast
The night has just begun... for everyone
But I feel like I've been spun
I might just be out of control
But isn't that the goal
Of a party ani-mole
Although I can't stand no mo'

Whatevers next to me, I hope there's a safe landin'
I'm having trouble standin'
You're not having any trouble pushing
No one seems to have a problem with me fallin'
Maybe cuz I'm not in the corner bawlin'
I'm the life of the party
And I aint never seen an episode of star trek... but what the heck
Gonna start talkin in klingon... and everyone can sing on
Whatcha got to lose, come on down some more booze

When I'm asleep, my body might be havin' a fit
But when I'm awake I can't feel shit
I wouldn't know if I lost a leg
Just point me to the keg
And try to quit trippin' me
Man, this slope is so slippery
I can't handle all this trickery
As I try to stop this game
I see an old flame
I never knew she was twins
I don't know why but now I'm all grins
Too bad this rooms got the spins

Whatevers next to me, I hope there's a safe landin'
I'm having trouble standin'
You're not having any trouble pushing
No one seems to have a problem with me fallin'
Maybe cuz I'm not in the corner bawlin'
I'm the life of the party
And I aint never seen an episode of star trek... but what the heck
Gonna start talkin in klingon... and everyone can sing on
Whatcha got to lose, come on down some more booze

Someone says I been staring at this tree... for an hour or three
I don't remember goin outside
It looks like the suns comin up and so is the booze
How much time did I lose
And during it what did I do
Or maybe I should say who... I ain't gotta clue
And if we're tellin the truth
I don't care in the slightest... one way or the other
Im always gonna have another... night like this
And if you think I should feel guilty
I have to tell ya, the stories kill me... funniest things I ever heard
And if you try to make me feel bad... here's the bird

True story.

I'd have to hear it first. Reads pretty cool though, Chad.
