It is Wednesday. I think I have a sinus infection. Today was not a good day to also be stuck in a long 90-minute "design review" meeting which made my extant headache even worse than it already was. Tonight I'm hanging out with my artist friends and hopefully getting comics done (I have my laptop and portable Wacom with me).

qotd: Do you get sick often? What do you usually end up getting?

For me it's usually sinus infections. I used to get 2-3 a year, although for the last several years I haven't been getting them so often anymore and when I do they usually clear up on their own. They're still annoying when they happen, though.

qotd: Just hangovers. It's very rare for me to get infections or the flu, etc. Not sure why. I haven't been to a doctor for anything since I was a kid.

drc: I've had a super-shitty couple of weeks, and today was no exception.
qotd: funny you should ask that, I've gone years without getting sick, and in the last month I've caught something twice, both times something to do with my stomach/bowels. I felt like crap all day yesterday, it turned into heartburn/acid reflux, and I woke up at 4am this morning with the need to run to the toilet. I barely made it. I've been able to eat a bowl of oatmeal since yesterday morning, and I feel full and bloated. WTH is wrong with me?!

Maybe that question should have its own thread.

Most of this is due to my digestive system being generally weird, of which one example is the lactose intolerance. I have to be careful of what I eat.
Right now I have a very mild cold that is making my sinuses cloggy, but it's almost ignorable.

Heh! Change your name to Blimpy Inc (reference to a much-loved radio show in Australia)

Blimpy the Lactose Intolerant Cat
An example of the level of toilet humour on the show, the character consisted of the stock sound effects of an angry meowing cat and wet splat noises. Originally a one off sketch, the character proved so successful that a whole series of serials involving Blimpy and the family that owned him in ever more absurd methods of setting him off. Blimpy was one of the characters who appeared in the Martin/Molloy comic book.

The opening lyrics in the introduction were:
"Now it's time for the adventures of Blimpy the Lactose-Intolerant Cat. He's not very well, he's leaking a smell. We should put him out but, it isn't his fault. 'Cause he's just a normal cat.. with the shits!"

The closing lyrics were:
"Tune in next week for more hijinks of Blimpy the Lactose-Intolerant Cat. Don't step over there, don't sit in that chair. Don't blame his intestines, it wouldn't be fair. 'Cause he's just a normal cat... with the shits!"

QoY: I don't get sick very often. My immune system is pretty damn strong. Although I do have allergies that last about 2 months in spring and 2 months in fall. My Dad has them pretty much year-round though so I think I'm doing pretty well. But yeah, I have only gotten the flu like 5 or 6 times in my life and I'm 28.

Uh, the strength of your immune system doesn't have much to do with whether you get the flu or not. Influenza is pretty damn virulent.

Also, '5 or 6 times' is actually rather a lot of times to get it. That is a month and a half you have lost due to illness.

Yeah dude, I've only had the flu maybe 3 or 4 times, and I'm turning 39 this month.

That's kinda fuzzy math... I've had the flu twice, which took me out of commission for three days each. Or maybe I'm the exception?

Oh well.

Time to buckle down and record!

I remember one time I had the flu as a kid. I had just eaten a big stack of pancakes and sausage. I threw up all over the table while we were all still eating. It was awesome!
....I'm still not a big fan of pancakes, but I love sausage. :P

Who doesn't. There's just something aesthetically pleasing about sausage.
