There's a foot of snow in some places of New Jersey but alas, I'm still at work. I hate snow. Don't be fooled by the moniker. I hate snow.

QotD: I always ask this one every once in a while, but as musicians we inherently like to talk about ourselves, right? So, What's in your project queue?

For me, the big thing is to do a new album. I did FAWM. Wrote 10 songs for Zinkline and 6 songs for LOIANO but I didn't do any music for myself. SF:NYC v2 is coming soon and I really want to have some new material at the ready. As much as I love the reactions I get when I play "Before A Date With Emily" and "Buried in the Basement" every year, I think I need to move on. So March is my time to do some new songs, perhaps even enter a SF (or SUK). Plus, I have a bunch of vocals I need to re-do....

qotd: Planning to power through the demos that I've recorded in the last half year (including the ones I wrote for fawm) - I should be able to get three albums or so from that. On that note, I've finished recording full band demos for my first official album, and the track listing is set. Now all I need is an angsty band to back me up.

I had to dig out of a 4' snow bank that the plow decided to dump behind my car port... Diggin' Out!

QotD: I have a laundry list of things to do... from the top...

1. Finish writing lyrics & recording vocals for 4-5 songs (that are practically finished) for an Electro/Dance EP
2. Record vocals for 4-5 alternate tracks of songs I had done before...
3. Finish writing my little Concept EP project... and record demos...
4. More Chthock?

QotD: I play bass with a couple guys, and we hope to book a little club show around April-ish. Other than that, just SF. :)

qotd: i have 4 more songs to demo from fawm. i also have a handfull of songs from fawm 2007 that never got a full recording. i am also combing through my 200 something songs for a handfull that sound good acoustically to start performing. i have a cd of 10 pretty good recordings going up on musicalfamilytree soon which is a local indiana music archive. oh, and songfight. i can't believe i've submitted 70 songs here. next month is my 2 year anniversary here and i haven't missed a title yet. i plan to keep that streak up as long i can/care. i also plan to start listening to the fights again. i think the last one i listened to was "rattlesnake" and that was only partially.

Our school got a set of drums donated by Carmine Appice and Ddrum. My project is learning to play them decently. I can do some basic rock beats, with some simple fills, but I'd like to be a little more proficient. I'm going through Appice's book Realistic Rock, and I've also got "Funky Primer" by Charles Dowd. The Appice book is a pretty good method book, it's got beats you can use, but it also has about 18 variations for each (hand switching, keeping the hi hat pedal going while playing the beat, etc). Plus I'm making up my own exercises as well as brushing up on my rudiments.

My project queue is long indeed, but it has kind of been reduce back to this:

1. get a drummer

In the meanwhile, I suppose I could polish up our fourth CD...

SPUD

edit: Oh, and mix our NPCA song. Yeah, I should do that. It already has drums on it.

Today was my last day of work...YEAH! I have 2 weeks before the new job begins, and if we don't get any more damn beautiful snow days, I'll have 9 - 2:30 to myself to record the ten songs lined up for production. With any luck there's some never before heard roymond on the way for you all.

New project: Annoy the other members of Zinkline by obsessing over every detail of the FAWM album that's not "perfect", whatever the hell that means. ;)

1.) Record demos for the seven FAWM songs that remain unrecorded (deadline: April 1)
2.) Flesh out these demos and get rough mixes. (Deadline June 1)
3.) Do a few more Songfights in the meantime
4.) Write the first few entries for my super-secret blog project I haven't talked about on the boards yet. (No deadline; goal is to have two months' worth of posts before the site launch)
5.) There's about five random songs not associated with any site or project that I've started recording and still haven't finished. I'd like to get those down before the summer. None of them are terribly adventurous, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
6.) The wife and I need to find a new apartment and move there sometime in mid-May.

Today I learned that quinine is fluorescent.

qotd: In my queue for foodsexsleep is to wait for my CDs to arrive so I can send some off to CDBaby so they can finally be available for sale. Everything's ready, I just need the CDs to get here (which should be by the end of the week, or early next week). I guess I should start putting together a subsite for it on sockpuppet.us or something.

For other projects, I'm already thinking about my next album (hopefully the next one won't take another 9 years!) and also there's my comic which is a never-ending time sink.

Here.

1. Complete an album of songs I've had lying around for awhile. I started this in december

2. Turn my FAWM into a proper record

3. Contemplate looking ot play live occasionally - no idea how to get started again - fear I'm too old.

I'm playing drinking songs shows leading up to St. Patrick's Day. The rest of March is pretty busy too. At the end of the month I'm making a brisk one-week trip down the east coast, playing in Asheville NC and other points to be determined.

April/May/June are currently light on the schedule. I'll be pounding the pavement looking for gigs, but I'm also hoping to get another CD done for this summer. I've more or less reestablished the home studio, having replaced the important stuff I lost in the flood. Nothing major, mostly cables and stuff like that.

I'm planning to attend SF NYC, and hoping to work out SF Spokane.

We had a snow day, which was awesome. Today I guess I have to go to work... I should get on that.

Three (four!) projects are at the top of the queue:
1. finish Dollar Bill & the Inkpoints album (including some songfights)
2. finish songs for this album + comic book that I'm working on with another guy
3. do album art for the Tapegerm album (this one has some songfights on)
4. finish baby

Interesting. I drink vodka tonics every so often, so I'll have time break out my black light next to I indulge in cinchona bark juice.

The Caravan Ray Debut Album project is well advanced.

I took a break this week to do a Songfight because I was getting a bit bored with rerecording old songs. Aiming for worldwide release at SF!NYC2.
