I'm really glad Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is getting some respect. I don't know why Counting Crows got a nomination for their dumb pop song. Passion of the Christ did have good cinematography.

I hope Kate Winslet and Michel Gondry/Charlie Kaufman/Pierre Bismuth or whatever win, and The Aviator and Sideways take home a bunch of awards.

I really don't get the hubbub over Finding Neverland. It was pretty mediocre and obvious, imo. Depp was actually better in that Secret Window turkey. At least they nominated Winslet for the right role.

Swank is *really* frikkin' good in Million Dollar Baby. I've only seen two of the movies in the best actress noms. Winslet was really good too, but Swank was better.

Clive Owen deserves the Supporting Actor tropy, IMO. The other fellas were good, but he really kicked ass in that role. I hope they make him James Bond. He would be so cool, suave, and totally ruthless. It would be great.

Madsen didn't astonish me like the world thinks she should have in Sideways. She was ok. Her big speech was flat, IMO. I'd vote for Cate Blanchett just because she's so awesome but totally should have been nominated for Life Aquatic instead of The Aviator-- even though I haven't see The Aviator.

And OMFG Willem Dafoe got gypped in supporting actor. He was frikkin' terrific in Life Aquatic. Jesus.

The Incredibles should have been nommed for Best Picture. Motherfuckers. Brad Bird better win something. Or there will be a reckoning.

Ugh. The Incredibles should win visual effects. I was not impressed by any of those three--though I, Robot did pretty well. Then, it didn't touch on much new ground, what with A.I. having been released in `01.

Yes. Moore wanted to get it nominated for Best Picture instead of Best Documentary, so he submitted it for Best Picture and not Best Documentary. Apparently there's some funny rules that govern it, or maybe it's just that all the promotion went into pushing for a Best Picture nod and not a Best Doc nod.

They're all rather boring really.

How the heck did The Aviator get an editing nod? It's so bady chopped up.

The visual effects category is really boring...

Phantom was fairly pretty, so it could win the art direction.

The costume design category sucks. (Am an aspiring costume designer, so I'm mightily dissapointed by these)

The Village got a score nod? Uh... okay then...

The Incredibles should get the animated nod.

Eh, pretty boring year over all. If only we had a LOTR this year...

I seem to remember something about Michael Moore saying he wasn't going to submit F9/11 for best documentary consideration.

No, I think that it did very well to set the various paces of the film. I found that the editing made up for deficincies in cinematography and direction.

Why isn't Eternal Sunshine up for best picture? That and Scorcese not winning an Oscar will make for a very bitter time. So far you're 0 for 2 Oscars! Or realistically like 0 for 1,000,000. Kevin fucking Costner winning an Oscar and not Scorcese. The Academy will never be forgiven.
