I submitted this a week early, as per the topic of my tatod song. :)

I think I'll just play producer this week.

Been to juvie. True story. All I have to do now is make all the things I did to get there rhyme.

Well, it's such a Ford's Theater Disaster song that it seems almost too obvious. But I've got a melody, some tight lyrics and a few riff ideas, so I'm going to give it a whirl. I want to twiddle with some production settings on this one; looking for that right drum sound....

Hey, anyone want to give live drums a shot? I won't be able to work on things until Friday morning (EST), but if you've got time after that...

My song is written, and rhythm guitars are tracked. Next - acoustic guitars, drums and bass (probably to be recorded tomorrow morning before school). Production will probably be a bit funny on this one, but in a better way than my last tune.

Due to popular demand, I'm bringing back stereo guitars. I hope you're happy. :)

My song is written too, although I need to strum it a few times to make sure that my prosody is right (LOL, not meaning to start that again). You are welcome to define the word "right" to mean that the prosody is what I intend it to be.

This one's gonna be funny, or stupid, depending on how it turns out and your opinion. But if you find it stupid, you'll be glad to know it's short. I'll work on some drum loop and bass in the next day or so, then it'll go fast.

Since I never went to Juvie I have a disadvantage here, although I did manage to work the word "shank" into the song to add a sense of authenticity!

Wrote a noise song for fun, submitted it.

I doubt it'll get any votes, but that's a non-issue.

Haven't written anything yet, but I have a good idea for the song's concept.

I've been extremely busy with stuff, so I don't know (but I doubt) I'll be in this week, but I'm going to try. I finally got my Acoustic/Electric fixed, so if I can make sure the pickup is fine in it, I'll probably use it in the song.

Not in, but here's my story. Years ago I house-sat for a co-worker at the university. He and his wife told me what to do with the dog, houseplants, waterbed, etc. Then the wife brought me a handwritten manifesto explaining what to do if their son tried to come - in all this detail, he may not come in, he may not have money, he may not have anything from the house .... The couple had adopted a boy from Asia, when the boy was 5 or 6. They said they tried to love him infinitely but something must have been wrong with him because they couldn't stop him being a delinquent. The best memory, my coworker said, was playing piano together with his son playing flute when he was young. The worst memory of his life was after the boy at age 16 was back from the delinquency center and was in court screaming at his parents how he hated them and they weren't his parents and he was never coming back to live with them ever. This being a couple years before the house-sitting where I heard the story. So, the wife: fantasizing how the son would come home so that she could turn him away. I thought that was amazingly sad.

The bold part. That sounds very vindictive. It makes me question her parenting and why the kid became a delinquent. Yeah, I know, some kids have deeper issues. But kids that express their feeling with rebellious anger, are doing so because that's the only way they know how. After reading that last line in your story, it makes me wonder if the kid was mentally abused. If they are good friends of yours, I'm sorry. I just felt I needed to say that for some reason. I'm sitting here right now wonder if it would just be best to hit the red X at the top, instead of submit.

I recorded my song last night. Haven't submitted yet. Somehow everytime I write a song that's supposed to be dark it ends up being funny. :P

Hey, no problem. I'm sure part of her reaction was being hurt and heartbroken. At the same time, I questioned the parenting too. Not that I knew them well, but something about the things they told and the way they interacted with their dog. They knew how to be cheerful, but I got the idea that they didn't know anything about being playful and silly, with a dog or a kid.

Re: the fight, changed my mind: collab with slats and we're in! <hype>The prosody will be fierce.</hype>

(But slats says I'm not allowed to hype it yet since we want to write it first.)

I've been checking in to songfight for a while and finally wrote a song to the title this past week. I did a little acoustic/vox quick recording and sent in my first songfight submission. I probably should have done up a better demo, but I just wanted to get it done and the song seem suited.

So I'm in (for the first time.)

Lyric writing is going terrible. The guitars sound nice though. :P

You know you still could have worked on it for nearly a week... right?
From your description I already can't wait.

I've got nothing. Everything going down on paper ends up being about me teaching kids how to stay out of Juvie by teaching them to be smarter criminals. I keep thinking I'm on to something, but it comes out sounding like the Cotton Mouth Kings.

Here I am trying to start writing words again, and this is the title I get. Ho hum.

You haven't done the "ball of poo" one yet that jb practically handed you on a silver platter.

Yeah, you make a good point. However, the song really does seem to be suited to just acoustic/vox. I know, I know.. stupid newbies.
