..just google it.
How does this happen???? Ironically, when he was told that I had read the book, he told the person telling him "yeah... he'd understand...he'd get it".
NO I DON'T..
soooo....do you believe the lizard people rule the earth? have you ever heard of this before?
I worry that this dude is gonna do something harmfully crazy....
Yep<<<sigh>>>, if they're making tin foil hats-- It's serious. (Sorry, I SO had to get that out of my system.)
(Although I'll probably come back through and delete this later-- Still working up to "succinct"... and, in a few hundred thousand words or less, I think I might just finish the synopsis.

In the meantime,)
I haven't actually had time to "google" the newest "revelation" on an old theme, though I did give the page you tagged a brief run through. Dang they covered a bunch of ground, up to and including ley lines.
Have I ever heard of this before? (Lizard people)
-- yep, or at the very least, its building blocks--
Especially if you count a multi level melding of quite a number of "current" science fiction stories and ancient legends, for example:
"V" (circa 80's)-- The two-legged lizard alien characters in that short run series assumed a humanoid costume to infiltrate and gain trust and acceptance.
"To Serve Man" (Vintage Twilight Zone)-- A text that was at first purported as a directive manual for alien delegates was actually a cookbook.
"Signs" (M. Knight Shamalot)-- Did you notice how he intertwined religion, miracles and predestiny into his debacle of alien invasion?
Primordial Soup as the bouillabaisse of all things (something is decidedly fishy about that theory.)
Mythical monsters of many other styles and sorts, their form often dependent on societal influence and religious affliliations, exchanging "demons" for "alternate life forms" where <<<cough>>> appropriate. (Much of those monsters were spawned by ignorance of science and the natural world and a need to understand that which they couldn't define through experience)
The spin off expansion on theory books that often capitalize on "popular" trends (example from the stated page, "The Biggest Secret by David Ickey".)
Leaf wrote: that's the nutjob who wrote the book... it's a wicked read though... why can lunatics appear so smart?
Because they ARE smart, as it applies to capitalizing on deep seated fears and knowing how to work a room. Far different knowledge than that which they claim to have-- but it works. (But hey, it could be fun to write a horror movie about how all the characters and incidents depicted in horror movies are based on actual events. Don't get me wrong, I love SciFi and Horror, but I still look for it in the fiction section of the bookstore.)
etc, etc., etc., because those are just the first off the cuff few
How does it happen? There are lots of ways:
Don't know if you've been tracking the upswing in bible sales and folks trying to "find" religion since 2001, looking for the "magikal" to resolve the mundane. (or I could beat the heathen drums and note the current trend in superhero worship)
Same thing, only different,
Cults, "White Power", "Suicide Bombers", and other such moronic leagues of injustice which depend on providing its followers with an illusion of control and empowerment. (Something to believe in.)-- There are those that feel lost and directionless without a shepherd, even if the only place he's herding them is to the slaughter house.
Watching the fanatic/converts in action/ spouting their doctrine, often seems incomprehensible because you can't get there from here.
(There really ARE people who BELIEVE in the Death Clock, Psychic Friends, shining a flashlight into eternity with John Edward, sites such as "Future Feed Forward"--which just so happens to be a really enjoyable parody of potential outcomes, or that the word of the Bible is INalterable FACT and that the word of God may never be modified or changed... BTW,I heard there's a class on Aramaic starting up next Tuesday.)
Dissatifaction with reality, people who immerse themselves in an alternate truth... or when truth itself, must often be suspended to support faith, rationalize, etc.
If your concept of "harmfully crazy" includes more "witch burnings", "crusades", Eco Terrorists types defending the right to clean air by blowing up SUV dealerships, and ProLIFErs, killing abortionists as a statement on the right to life, rather than NewAgers and the "great unwashed" fashioning lovely tin foil pate pyramids for the masses at Spir-Ho shows... Then-- Yup, the potential for mayhem is definitely there.
