Nur Ein IV

Welcome to the Nur Ein IV, the fourth edition of what some have called the Olympics of Songfight. Here is how the Nur Ein works:
Nur Ein (it's German for "Only One")
The Nur Ein starts off with 25 competitors and through 7 rounds, it is weeded down to one winner. The Past winners of the Nur Ein are Glenn Case (NE1), Adam/Puce (NE2) and the Worldly Self Assurance (NE3).
Unlike in previous years, each round will take seven days to complete. The rounds will be a challenge of skill, creativity and a battle against time.
The first day of a round, a song title will be named (as chosen by the Nur Ein Jury). It will not be a songfight title and runs on its own timeframe.
With every title, there will be a non-optional challenge attached. (Examples: Song must include a change in time signature, must include backwards recording, must include female vocals)
The competitors will have 5 days to complete the song for that round. Due to the new 7 day rounds, every round will include a weekend (unlike in previous editions)
When a competitor completes a song, it is to be e-mailed to nurein.sidefight AT gmail.com. All songs will be hosted by Niveous.
After the deadline, the songs will be posted on the Nur Ein website (nur-ein.livejournal.com) as well as in this forum so that everyone can enjoy them while the jury deliberates.
Reviews and loud talking is encouraged but the jury will not be swayed (except by large bribes).
On the last day, the jury will make their decision and some competitors will be eliminated. Here is the elimination breakdown:
Stage 1: 25 bands, 5 eliminations
Stage 2: 20 bands, 5 eliminations
Stage 3: 15 bands, 4 eliminations
Stage 4: 11 bands, 4 eliminations
Stage 5: 7 bands, 3 eliminations
Stage 6: 4 bands, 2 eliminations
The final stage will be a battle between the two remaining competitors and the vote of the eliminated competitors (or "exiles") will choose the winner.
In rounds 1, 2 & 3, the jury's favorite song gets immunity.
It all begins with Round Zero. This round determines the 25 competitors who will battle it out in the Nur Ein.
Round Zero is open to everyone. The 25 competitors with the best songs will earn a spot in the Nur Ein.
This year's Jury are myself and last year's Nur Ein winners, the WSA- Glennny, Melvin, Frisbee and Furrypedro.
Here is the projected dates for this year's Nur Ein:
Round Zero:
April 15 to April 22
Opening Round:
April 22 to April 29
Second Round:
April 29 to May 6
Third Round:
May 6 to May 13
Fourth Round:
May 13 to May 20
Fifth Round:
May 20 to May 27
Sixth Round:
May 27 to June 3
Final Round:
June 3 to June 10
The title and challenge for Round Zero will be announced on the forum on 4/15, most likely around midnight EST.
The game is on. Nur Ein!
* A reminder (as written by Ross Durand):
You enter as an "act," and while sidemen (or women) are sometimes used, the act stays intact throughout the contest, in other words (unless a challenge said to) you don't create new collaboration groups in different rounds.
