qotd: What did you have for lunch? I had a bacon cheeseburger, for the highest possible sacrilegious bang for the buck.

QotD: Miso soup, agedashi tofu, & edamame. I don't think there's anything in the Old Testament about soybeans.

QotD: A burrito. It will probably be my last bread before the holiday begins.
That reminds me, though. I haven't bought my matzah yet this year. I hope the store isn't sold out.

I was tasked with making the charosets for seder this year, and I put off getting the kosher wine and matzoh meal until the last minute. The store was completely out of grape kosher wine (and only had blackberry, ugh) and had no matzoh or matzoh meal (they did have matzoh ball mix but that's not right for charosets), although even when they did have matzoh they only had it in the giant bulk packages. I ended up just grinding up some walnuts into a paste and using that as the thickener instead, and it came out okay.
I'm not in a very Jewish neighborhood, though. The store was also dumb enough to move all the kosher salt into the Passover section, which is just hilarious. They also massively overstocked on macaroons and so there were, you know, plenty of those.
Also, no Kosher Coke, but they do finally carry Pepsi Natural which I have found out is way better anyway. (Still nowhere near as good as Cricket Cola, but way better than sugar Coke.)

In the Hebrew calendar, the day ends at sundown, so Jewish holidays start the evening before what it says on the American calendar. (That is also why Hasidic and Orthodox Jews treat the time between sundown on Friday and sundown on Saturday as the Sabbath.)

QotD: eh, I knew I'd forgotten something. Does it count if I start cooking lunch at 12:20 am? If so, Nasi Goreng.

Basil: So that's two egg mayonnaise, a prawn Goebbels, a Nazi Goering and four Colditz salads....
...don't mention the war. I might have done it once, but I think I got away with it

QotD:
Yup. I work through lunch most days. I usually have a big ol' bag of trail mix (like from Costco) about the office, but no, not this week...

Do Jews
have to do all this stuff at Easter time? It is a bit distasteful really. Especially after killing Jesus and everything...

I think the Transpacific Babble Brigade have, between them, made this the most offensive thread ever.
Uhh... Congratulations?
