4/21/09 HEAT WAVE

it is goddamn hot here. San Francisco is in the middle of an uncharacteristic heat wave.
QOTD: is it goddamn hot where you are?
DRC: Work is also pretty stressy right now. Crunch time at the ol' software factory.
and bonus rant: I shouldn't let it bother me when a professional cartoonist tells me at great length how horrible my comics are and how I should stop doing them because I am "clearly not interested in improving" but it does. I just like to experiment and try things and I think I've improved immensely over the last few years. Of course I'm not going to ever be as good as someone with formal training and who spends 8 hours a day drawing for a living, but I just do it because it's something I feel like doing. What the hell is wrong with that?

It's close to 100 here in Vegas. So yeah, it's hot. Good convention and good business. But hot.

In Seattle it is exactly the same temperature every day of the year: 65 degrees F.

QOTD: Yep, really hot. But I like the heat. It makes for beautiful morning and even better evening.

QotD: Oh my god yes.
DRC: Moving on Saturday. Need to spend the rest of my evenings packing until then. This is exceptionally bad timing for Nur Ein. I'll have to sneak in my recording in half-hour to hour-long snippets tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday, and hope to get the bulk of it done after we finish unloading the U-Haul on Sunday. The good news is, I've already got the music written, and it fits in two minutes (almost exactly even). Alright.
By the way
my new site is up. Thanks Spud!

QotD: Nope, it's been cold & rainy so far this week...
@fluffy: it's one thing if he doesn't care for your art and your comics... but it's super ego dickish to tell you that you should quit, just because he doesn't like them. tell him that you don't like him at all and he should go back in time and abort himself.
edit: Jon, please change that white text to something dark... it burns my eyes and I cannot read it.

White text? Do you mean the menu bar options? Because darker colors will be even harder to read against that dark green bar. There is no other white text in the site, that I know of.

Nah, not too hot - we've had a whole lot of rain lately. Heh, the high is listed as 57 F for today.
So, fluffy, do you know some professional cartoonist, or did somebody go out of their way to insult you? Screw 'em, they can just not look at your cartoons rather than tell you to stop making them. And yes, they have greatly improved over the years.

This was on poe-news. I gave more details on my friends-only weblog and you can see the thread for yourself. (And yes he went out of his way to insult me.)
Also a friend on LJ pointed out that the dude isn't actually a professional cartoonist, he just does a good job of presenting himself as one. So yeah, screw 'em.

What browser is that? It looks like there's a conflict between the internal and external stylesheets, and for some reason your browser is choosing an inappropriate mish-mash of the two.

It topped out around 100 here yesterday. Around these parts, that doesn't really qualify as "goddamn hot" but it is unseasonably warm.
THEY were claiming it would be cooler today, but it's currently 87 and it's not even 10AM yet so it seems likely we'll get up to at least the mid 90s again.

What was the issue there?

It appears to be a case of css inheritance not being respected by Safari when there is both internal and external style code. On the other hand, if I put the code in the right place, it would probably actually work fine. Will work on that.

I tried to add your site as a link, and the whole thing broke. Probably my fault, but I need to report it to Spud when I get home.

Posting it here is the same thing as reporting it, only a bit more public. Nevertheless, it did get fixed.
