So yeah today is that other holiday where people just go out drinking... at least round these parts. It's also my friend's birthday today... which is kind of cool because he never needs to ask anyone to go out drinking on his birthday! Everyone already is willing, even on a week night! :)

QotD: Do you do anything for this here Cinco de Mayo?

I am all for any excuse to eat tacos and drink beer. So I'll probably do that for dinner.

Yeah, that sounds good.

QotD: errr...no. It's not really big news down Taranaki way.

QotD: Yep. Already put a big chuck roast in the crock pot this morning.

I have people coming over for dinner, so on the menu:
Tacos al Carbon
Fajitas
Chicken Enchiladas
Mexican Jambalaya rice (my own combination of a no meat jambalaya with Spanish ingredients, like cumin, chopped jalapeno, diced tomatoes, cilantro)
Frijoles de Olla (basically just pinto beans with bacon and salsa fresca)

The cool thing about tacos and fajitas is that people make their own. I'll have beef and chicken. I fry the corn tortillas for the tacos and just have small warm flour tortillas for the fajitas, so people have a choice. There'll only be 6 or 7 here, so it will be chill.

They are all hyped up on Mario Cart challenges tonight. That's usually about the time I duck out and act like I'm watching while I'm on the laptop. I have a song I'm trying to get mixed.

it's pretty big out here but all the happenings happened this past weekend, even though today is el cinco. and it rained all weekend.

but in san francisco, cinco de mayo is the kind of unofficial kick off to the summer street festivals, which take place almost every weekend (in a different neighborhood) each summer. notables are the haight street fair, the union street festival, the north beach festival, the fillmore jazz festival, and the folsom street fair. and of course, the best of them all, the hardly strictly bluegrass festival.

man, sometimes i really miss the city. not when i have to park though.... :)

Although this year all the stuff happened on the weekend and it was, from what I hear, lackluster on account of the rain. Even the Dolores Park celebration was just kind of "meh."

I never do anything special for CdM, personally, although last night I had both a margarita (after dinner) and a martini (before bed). I don't normally drink that much.

You must have forgotten. I was in pain all day yesterday, even had to request going home from work an hour early cuz I couldn't take it anymore. Damn you, Spud! ^_^
