ummmm, okay?

Perhaps you could also give me some insight on your opinions about the controversial subjects of "airplane food" and "how men are different from women" in 100 words or less. You sound like you have a lot of clever insights.

Which society was that exactly... the one where women didn't get to vote? The one where people owned other people? The one where some people had to drink from separate water fountains? The one where unmarried pregnant women got sent to monasteries? The one where draining your blood was a cure for everything? The one that made the Cold War? The one that voted in voodoo economics? The one that made "Hee-Haw" a hit? The one that laughed at the sex jokes in The Merchant of Venice? The one that made "Reefer Madness" and "Mr. Bungle" movies? Oh wait, you must mean the one where troublesome women were lobotomized. No? Maybe the one where the mentally ill were sterilized? How about the one where soldiers were deliberately exposed to toxic agents for testing? Or the "greatest generation", which detonated the only nuclear weapons ever used on human beings? Oh wait, you probably mean the one that rounded up all the Japanese-Americans into camps because they looked different. I guess that was the same society, my bad. Or maybe the one that let the Macarthy Hearings ruin people's lives? Or the one that dressed up in white sheets and lynched American citizens because of their skin color? Or, perhaps the most heinous society of all, how about the one that made "Because I Love You" by Stevie B a hit?

Yeah, society is much worse today than it used to be. God damned reality television.

dear jb: until further notice, you are my new hero.

dear orange peel: welcome to songfight. it's great you feel the need to participate in the message board. i wonder whether there's a television-related message board out there that has a small tangential section on songwriting competitions so i can go leave comments there.......

I, too, dislike "reality tv", but jb's point is well taken.
However, I think that "reality tv" is designed to bring out the worst parts of human nature, i.e. the very same parts that brought about the monstrosities that jb talks about - these are the same parts you see on rtv.
And this is why I don't like it.
Now, Mr. Let's-Post-One-Message, write us a song since you don't want to watch TV. People will listen to it.

Acknowledgement is the first step on the road to recovery. Pretty much all those things I mentioned aren't true any more, so please don't misinterpret my point. :)

Nowt wrong with being a 420, and nowt wrong with a bit of TV either. Both at the same time is also, on occasion, rather wonderful...

Check out 'Saving Grace'.

I'm feeling old again. What does '420' mean?

Oh, and Kamakura, if you happen to see my future King down at the shops or something, wish him and his beautiful bride-to-be all the best from his Australian subjects - she seems much nicer and more Queenly than that mad, skinny tart he used to shag.

it's when the big hand is on the 4 and the little hand is also on the 4.
in some countries it might be referred to as '16.20'
militarily speaking it would be more accurately called '16.33'.

none of these are the answer you are looking for, though.
perhaps this could be more enlightening for you.

Will do, they're due here for tea a bit later.
Don't tell anyone else, but they are going to be singing backing vocals, and I hear she's a dab hand with castanets.

Add Aaron Brown (CNN) to the second list and I'm coming over and we'll all watch L&O CI.

Yeah, I didn't mind the transition during the x-files... I would have kept watching too, I thought they were good.

But CI... no, you're right... he really sells that show for me too.
