More than truly digging his music, I think that Trent Reznor has a lot of media and business savvy in today's music market.

It's a few weeks old now, but on his website forums, he posted some very interesting advice for those artists looking to get started with the presence of Vimeo, iTunes, MySpace, YouTube and all the rest of the new media. It has developed into a very interesting discussion there.

Just some food for SF thought.

I was delighted to notice that some of that advice happens to coincide with my already-underway business plan.

Though this bit confused me:
Trent Reznor wrote: Get a Twitter account. Be interesting. Be real. Submit your music to blogs that may be interested. NEVER CHASE TRENDS. Utilize the multitude of tools available to you for very little cost of [sic] any - Flickr / YouTube / Vimeo / SoundCloud / Twitter etc.
Get a Twitter account. Don't chase trends.

What?

Some people apparently believe that Twitter has already established itself as an integral part of the internets. From this kind of perspective, there is no contradiction.

As you may have surmised... I have my doubts.

I suspect he meant musical trends, not technological.

Otherwise, his advice would be the same as the 70s, tour tour tour.
