Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
I really hope I can do something for this. I've only submitted 1 track since I released my 4th album and that was a month ago. I've been working really hard on my new backyard wrestling fed. Well, if I get time I'll submit.
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style.

Priorities, Rone. Pick the one you're better at, and stick with it. I know that might be hard...

I thought I should introduce myself, as I entered this weeks fight and forgot to. Hello to all contestants. I should be in this week again, as long as I get time.

Hm. I have a concept, some chords, and a chorus. All I need is a few verses and I'm in business...

Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
How am I supposed to take this perfectly happy title and make a depressing song out of it?
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
I probably won't be in this fight, but if I wanted to do that, I might write about somebody being played for a chump, or played as as a pawn, or just about some really creepy game like Manhunter with chain saws or something.Manhatton Glutton wrote:

Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
I thought about that, but the title + that concept is like being hit over the head with a metaphor bat.AJOwens wrote:I probably won't be in this fight, but if I wanted to do that, I might write about somebody being played for a chump, or played as as a pawn, or just about some really creepy game like Manhunter with chain saws or something.
Here are my predictions for this fight:
- A crazy, all over the place song about all things which are played
- A crazy spotlight on one particularly banal thing that is played (like a piano, gameboy, or soccer)
- A bunch of way 2 srs songs about unfortunate suckers
- A song about how this song was made to be played (naked/with a guitar/on stage)
- A bunch of way too silly songs about unfortunate suckers
I'm sure at least one person will pull it off well. Not really my scene, but if some good music comes to mind I might crap out some lyrics.

Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
I just wrote two songs for this fight. Can't decide which (if either) of them I want to record. One is a depressing "oh poor me" song, and the other is a NSFW song about fucking. I honestly don't think I could pull off the latter (heheh, I said 'pull off') but if I could get Geoff WreckdoM to belt out the brutally pornographic parts, it would be awesome, if not a bit uncomfortable.
[edit] I recorded a demo of the "oh poor me" song, and I really like it. It has a hook in it that frankly surprises me that I wrote it... I need to redo almost everything to make it submittable.

Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
And an Octothorpian song which purposefully misreads it as 'made to be plaid.' That would be how I did it if I felt like doing something, anyway.Manhattan Glutton wrote:I thought about that, but the title + that concept is like being hit over the head with a metaphor bat.AJOwens wrote:I probably won't be in this fight, but if I wanted to do that, I might write about somebody being played for a chump, or played as as a pawn, or just about some really creepy game like Manhunter with chain saws or something.

Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
Two different song demos are now posted in the collab thread. One is a power pop punk tune and the other is a hard rock semi-industrial tune. Lyrically and musically, I like the 2nd one better, but I need two things: 1) someone to collab on either or both tunes and 2) opinions on which tune seems better. That'll be the tune I focus on if no one collabs with me. Here ya go:

In! Please pardon everything (I mean it). I wasn't going to be in, but then Manhattan Glutton left one possibility out of his predictions, so I had to do it. I put together something short. Now I can work on the basement all weekend. Whoopee!

Re: Are you game? (Made to be Played prefight)
I'm in with my third submission. It's GnG just to piss off 90% of ya'll. It is one take, off key, and with bad playing towards the end cuz my fingers were tired. It too me less than 30 minutes from the time I started writing to the time I was done rendering and dagnabit I'm NOT gonna apologize for it. (Although I was playing the main riff for quite a while (like an hour) before the idea came to me that made it into a song.)
My first entry got 1 vote. My second 5. This one will get 0 if ya'll stay true to form. Do me proud, ya'll. Do me proud.
P.J
P.S. I've been doing 50 songs in 90 days and I'm all about the writing and none about the recording at this point. Please accept my sincere apology for this entry and the above post. I'm drunk.
