Get Well Glenn Case - a Songwriting Event

Our pal Glenn has taken fairly ill. Hopefully he'll be up and at 'em soon, writing thousands of songs a day again like usual.

Right now he's laid out on his back in a hospital bed, suckin' down IV juice and waiting to find out whether it was the chicken tikka on Tuesday or the general tso's on Monday that caused his guts to spasm torturously.

So in the meantime, here's a thread for people to write and record songs for Glenn to get well to. You can do a quick cover-- I suggest something from his 10,000 songs project: http://glenncase.blogspot.com/ or perhaps from his top 120 songs list: http://www.glenncase.com/120/

Or, something completely new.

Glenn's the best guy you'll ever meet, a good friend to Song Fight, and an excellent competitor. Let's all spark up a tune for him.

If you need one, here's a DUE DATE: SATURDAY 10/3 SOMETIME BEFORE MIDNIGHT

Don't wait too long or he'll have gotten better without your help, and then how will you feel Latey McLaterson?

JB

I am about to head into transit - so cannot contribute.

Vomiting and such for recreational purposes is all well and good - but if it isn't actually self-inflicted - then that is a bit of a bugger. Get well soon Glenn.

Well, I wrote a little song for Glenn this morning. Apologies if the last line is a little close to the bone. Also just noticed there's a weird millisecond glitch noise at the beginning of the mp3 before the song starts. No time to fix it. Soz. j$

Get Well, Glenn by Johnny Cashpoint

Oh Glenn, get well
Oh get well, Glenn x2

If at any time you find that you are getting bored
may i suggest a little game of Bed Pan Frisbee?
It's a little like Russian Roulette, except that by
End of play a bed bath might well be neccessary

(Get well, Glenn)
Oh Glenn, get well
Oh get well, Glenn x2

If at any time you find that you are getting bored
(Get well Glenn, Get well soon)
Ask the hospital DJ to play the Birdy Song
(Get well Glenn, Get well soon)
Pump it out all day and night through every single ward
(Get well Glenn, Get well soon)
Duty nurse can ratchet up to ten and dance along
(Get well Glenn, Get well soon
But not that soon 'cos)
I'd stay in bed until Obama sorts out healthcare
Unless you're a millionaire ...

Glenn, I hope you get well with all due expedience, but due to the timing of this sidefight, I won't be able to record anything for it. Sending good vibes your way, though. :D

I wrote a song for Glenn this morning too. And since I didn't have a lot of time to record (or practice, apparently), I just made a video using the camera on my computer. Hope you like it Glenn! Get well soon!!!

Catch Me - Frankie Big Face

I'm lying in this hospital bed
Sharks swimming laps in my head
And I'm wondering if these tiny threads
Can hold me down.
Yeah, there's a lot of ways to leave this world
But only one way to get back to you, girl
Please catch me.

I've been a son of a bitch for years
And dealt you more than your share of tears
I could have made a goddamn career
Out of bringing you down.
But now I'm hanging from the back of my knees
And I'm begging you to be there please
To catch me.

At the time, at the time
I couldn't make up my mind
Now that I've fallen behind
I know which way to go.

I've got a monitor just for my heart
That says I got it wrong right from the start
But there's nothing like some time apart
To bring my temperature down.
But I'm determined to thaw this freeze
And if I swear to be the sweetest disease
Will you catch me?

So, Frankie left a comment on my Facebook wall where I found out about his song that he wrote. I was completely blown away by the gesture and I wondered where he had found out about me being sick.

So, I checked the boards and I find this thread...

OMG and WOW!

I'm attempting to find a way to properly express my gratitude, but words don't seem sufficient.

Many Songfighters tend to be among my favorite people on this planet, and moments like this are a great example of why that is the case. CLOSE to tears over here, 'though none have fallen just yet.

SO thankful that I started watching Sifl and Olly.
SO thankful that a fan of Sifl and Olly told me about MC Frontalot
SO thankful that Frontalot participated in the "Gonna Be Your Man" fight that introduced me to Songfight.

I already felt ridiculously loved as a result of all of the well wishes, thoughts, prayers, etc that poured in through twitter/facebook/myspace etc. I don't think any of that quite prepared me for this...

Thank you all very, very, VERY much!

ROCK!

Hopefully, this won't make Glen feel worse. Here is a song by our new friend, Latey McLaterson! Wow! Hope you're feeling better, Glenn. On The Rebound - Latey McLaterson

On The Rebound - Latey McLaterson

General Tso has gotta go
He put me in the hospital
Chicken Tikka made me sicker
Now all I can eat is a popsicle

And here I lay, sucking on IV juice
And I gotta say, I won't eat me no more bamboo shoots

(Monday) Was bad
(Tuesday) Was worse
(Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday) I felt like I'd be sent home in a hearse

But you know I'm like my food
I just won't stay down
I'm on the rebound

Oddly inspired, I humbly submit this heartfelt and also epically silly choral piece:

Get Well, Glenn! by Future Boy

This is a song
expressing my desire
that you should stay alive.

It won't take long
to listen to the choir
refrain what I've contrived:

Get well, Glenn!
Please don't die!
Don't let the dysentery get you down!

I can't stomach the thought
of your stomach in knots
and you on a cot
in a hospital gown.

Hey JB, where's your song? You can't rally the troops and then sit on the sidelines!

Having missed my self-imposed deadline, I nevertheless offer this boisterous song to my good pal Glenn Case and wish him a speedy recovery:
