(I guess I'll be Niveous's Helper for GOM for now, just to get the ball rolling...)
'Tis the season for our yearly version of Secret Santa, it's:
2009/2010 GIFT OF MUSIC
Here's the concept:
Anyone who wants to be a part of this cover challenge simply needs to post here, telling me that they're in and listing 4 songs (links to the songs are appreciated). These 4 songs are 4 songs that you really like and would like to hear covered. Once the list of participants is compiled, the names will be tossed into a hat and paired off.
From there, each participant will get a private message telling them who they'll be giving the gift of music to as well as the 4 songs that person chose. The participant picks 1 song from the 4 and covers the song. Then on the due date, we post the results and everybody wins.
It's Secret Santa meets Coverfight meets Hxaro with incredible results. The previous GoMs have been exceptional. Check them out on Eddiebangs' website Soul Tree Records:

I am in, obviously as per usual-like.
BTW, could someone with mod powers please 1) stick this thread and 2) unstick the two sidefight threads that have been stuck for much too long?

I guess we should also discuss whether to allow previous stiffers, or let them in with suitable admonishments, or what.
Also, I am in as always, I have been in every year!

I have attempted to do this. I'm not a PHPBB whiz though, so let me know if I did something wrong.

The Kinks - Village Green
Rafaella Carra - Do It, Do It Again
Links to follow.

LAst year I organized a team of ragtag songfighters who made songs for all those who got stiffed in the GOM. I hereby offer to do the same again this year. PM me if you wanna help.
Hopefully, of course, no one will get stiffed and there will be no need, but just in case...

IN. Here are my choices:
LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum

Fishboy - Halftime at the Proper Name Spelling Bee
The Helio Sequence - Can't Say No
My apologies for the clunky nature of the file sharing host - you get what you pay for (it's free).

I would like to do this, but I was a stiffer last year (with a pretty compelling reason, I think), so I'll leave it up to the general population here whether or not I'm in. Yea or nay?

i'd say join in, but make sure that you don't stiff again. you could also atone by actually recording the cover you were supposed to do last time

Hay Guise,
I wanna be in, but I was a dirty, terrible stiffer last year. I did a good bit of groundwork on the song, but it never really came together. I went through a lot of crap, which really changed up my circumstances and whatnot, and in whatever time that left me with, I didn't feel sufficient motivation to finish. I've felt bad about it on various levels throughout the year, but I've been a bit busy to get terribly caught up in it. As I see it, I still owe someone a song, and I still intend to cross the finish line, even if the tape has long been broken by others. I actually think a second make-up deadline would help (and/or would have helped) me to pound something out. So somebody come up with that (keeping in mind I am working approximately eight million hours in the next two weeks) and also lemme in plz.

Suggestion: We set a deadline for entry. (Say, Halloween?) If you're a previous stiffer, and you want to be in, then make good on your gift before entering. Stiffers who make that deadline are okay by me. The ones that don't, well, they probably wouldn't make the next one either.

Yeah, what he said. That's good. Like furnishing your ticket stub for re-entry. Also, it could be a good warm up or get you rolling if you've been poopy.
