Just found out that one of my all time musical heroes died last week. Jimmy Smith was a true master of the B3 organ. A true genious.

I heard a semi-recent interview with him on KERA radio, they were asking him about that guitarist guy he worked with all the time. They were like, 'how did you two have that magic?', and he was like 'playin with him was like makin love. I mean, some of the times, we might as well been havin' sex in the damn studio" I lawl'ed pretty hard.

Yeah, Jimmy and Kenny Burrell on guitar was a great mix. Guitar and organ sound so similar that its hard to make them work together. those two knew exactly how to work it so it came off sounding Friggin awesome! Kenny Burrell is actually a kick ass guitarist that came out with many of his own great albums, recommend listening to that guy. Kind of a mix between Grant Green and Wes Montgomery.
