What, did everybody stop seeing movies around here? We went to see "Avatar" in 3D tonight. It was as visually amazing as people say it is. Easily the most impressive CGI I've ever seen, by a long way. It was also my first 3D movie and the 3D was really well done. Most of the time it didn't feel like a cheap gimmick. Many times I almost got vertigo from it and the vastness of the scenery. The acting was generally pretty good, though the characters and the story overall were pretty stock and offered no real surprises. Still, they mine some reliable archetypes and tropes that generally work for me. It gets off to a pretty slow start, so try to immerse yourself in the scenery as much as possible for that part.

I finally saw this a couple days ago. I really liked it. A good story with a good message.

As much as I love (or used to love... the Star Wars prequels kinda turned me off to CGI) special effects and such I haven't seen this movie because the character design turned me off instantly. :\
