EDIT: Songs are still available for collaboration. I will just indicate which ones are officially done by writing FINISHED

The List
01 Goddamned (Lazy Times) - 1st song I composed on the bass
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/01GoddamnedLazyTimes.txt
Original Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/01Goddam ... imesv1.mp3
FINISHED song featuring Caravan Ray on all instruments and arrangement: http://www.philwages.com/music/01Goddam ... vanRay.mp3

02 Spin Cycle - lyrics only; meets the Week 1 challenge of "Jobs"; Just lyrics right now, open to music and melody on this; EDIT: These lyrics are also available for burgling as I just can't work out a good melody right now; feel free to adjust the lyrics to fit a cohesive melody. Just let me know if you want to burgle.
Lyrics Only: http://www.philwages.com/music/02SpinCycle.txt

03 Honesty Blues - EDIT: This should be a song with The EAF. Will post an undated version as soon as I have it.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/03HonestyBlues.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/03HonestyBluesv1.mp3

04 Color Blind by Eric Hoglen and Phil Wages - first official collab entry. The lyrics are done. EDIT: I've finally got a recording to share. It'll probably get tweaked a bit more. For instance, the timing on the bass is not good and this isn't a finalized mix.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/04ColorBlind.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/04ColorBlindv3.mp3

05 All The Miles Don't Mean a Thing - I've got music for this, but I'm not crazy about it. If I record music I like, I'll post it, otherwise, this is open for interpretation by others. The song is about online collaboration!
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/05AllThe ... aThing.txt

06 Keep On Looking On - I was writing these lyrics to a different song, but didn't like the melody, so I junked the music part and come up with new music and melody. This is working out better.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/06keepOnLookingOn.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/06keepOn ... ndemo1.mp3

07 Be What you Want (But Don't Let Me) - the music here is by Michael Winter from our online band The EAF. I recorded these vocals as a demo. We should be creating a well done version over the coming weeks.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/07BeWhat ... heEAF).txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/07BeWhat ... tLetMe.mp3

08 Please Stop - This is, of course, doubles as a SongFight entry.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/08Please ... Fight).txt
Original Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/08Please ... ght)v1.mp3
EDIT: Full entry with full band (this is the mix I submitted to SF): http://www.philwages.com/music/08Please ... ghtv3b.mp3

09 Snow (A Good Way To Spend Some Time) - Arrangement, Music, Vocals, and Treatment by Jon Eric
Lyrics: http://www.philwages.com/music/09Snow(A ... eTime).txt
FINISHED with complete musical interpretation by Jon Eric: http://jon-eric.com/Songs/Recent/Jon%20 ... 20Snow.mp3

10 I'm Still In Love With You (by F'ing Phil and Bill) - In collaboration with a friend who's never written a song before. This is based off the first guitar riff Bill ever created. As you can hear, I am having trouble getting it right as this recording is made about a week after the song was written and I'd kind of forgotten exactly how it went. The lyrics are most by Bill and I basically just helped provide some structure to our efforts. If anyone is digging this, we could collaborate or you could just interpret it and do it yourself. We're open.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/10ImStil ... ithYou.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/10ImStil ... hYouv1.mp3

11 A Vague Comprehension - About my friend John moving to California and conflicting feelings about it for various reasons. This is open for lyric burgling.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/11AVague ... ension.txt

12 Sour Milk Gravy - This should meet the challenge of "Inanimate Objects", unless that excludes organic (but dead) stuff. smile The song comes from a few separate ideas including the phrases "sour milk gravy" and "half a teaspoon of time". Anyone interested in collaborating on this?
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/12SourMilkGravy.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/12SourMilkGravyv2.mp3

13 Back in the Box - This song was inspired by a friend's poetry about conflicting loves. It's open for collab.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/13BackInTheBox.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/13BackInTheBox.mp3

14 This is the End - This is the quintessential bonus track. Technically, it should be the last song here, but I'm posting songs in the order they are written, so there. I just had a bit of fun writing this semi-country tune. If anyone wants to interpret it, feel free!
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/14ThisIsTheEnd.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/14ThisIsTheEnd.mp3

15 Hey God - just a bassline groove. Have some lyric ideas to go with, but nothing is set other than the bass groove, which needs some tweaking in the last couple of notes. Now with lyrical treatment by Madren. EDIT: I decided to go ahead and make this track #15 though I haven't recorded anything new. I think the lyrics we have are plenty for the point of the song (no reason to stretch it out). So I'm thinking this song needs to have a lot of instrumental goodness. If anyone is interested in that, I can work on a continuous recording featuring the bass and the vocals (to a beat) and then someone could take it over and do some jamming on it. I don't want an experimental synths type of thing, but maybe something between Grateful Dead, The Doors, and ELO would be cool. Of course, if someone hears this and is inspired to just make this their own, I'd be happy to add the vocals to that. :D
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/00HeyGod_bassline.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/00HeyGod ... v1.txt.mp3

16 We're the Brewsters - For over a year, some friends and I have been brewing beer. We call ourselves The Punky Brewsters. This song is both our story and basic instructions for brewing beer. Hey, I do what I can to help society.
Lyrics/Tab: http://www.philwages.com/music/16WereTheBrewsters.txt
Demo: http://www.philwages.com/music/16WereTheBrewsters.mp3

haven't had a chance to listen yet - do you have BPMs for the mp3's? Or are you playing "commando" style?

I don't have BPM or click tracks or any of that. It's commando style for sure! The "easiest" way for me to proceed is for you talented song producers to make the song(s) in your own images and then I add (or optionally add) my vocals. That is, if you feel it is better for you to do the vocals too, then it is fine for it to be a song that I wrote "for" you.

With that said, I know I need to start recording to a beat so it is easier for others to work with me and so that I can improve as a musician, so if you want to nudge me in that direction, just tell me which song you want recorded to a beat and I'll try to get it done ASAP. What would help immensely is a drum loop that somewhat matches the feel of the song OR that you think better guides the feel of the song. ...and don't worry about what I mean! I don't mean to lead this as much as I am a writer who needs to follow. Capish?

And if you need to e-mail me files, PM me and I'll get my e-mail address to you.

Well done! I've posted the Madren lyrical additions. The motivation is now on!

OK - is Lazy Times still free?

I will have a crack at that if you like.

Like you said - I will make the song in my own image and then back to you for lead vox

It sure is! I probably wouldn't do anything more with it unless it was in collab with someone. :) It is yours.

OK - I am already under way - it is sounding good. Will send you a backing track for your vox in a few days

That's awesome! If you think the melody needs to be adjusted in any way from what I'm doing in the demo, you might send a separate track with your suggested melody so I can hear what you think.

Hmm, I'm kind of proud how that sentence came out. ;)

And it's up. Sorry that took so long. I plan on adding more harmonies later, and maybe bass. But this is a good start, considering it's FAWM. What do you think, Phil?

Three more songs have now been added. There is a song for burgling, one for collaboration or interpretation, and one open for collaboration.
