I've quit my job and tomorrow is my last day at work!
HOORAY!!
I have a week off before I start my new job
HOORAY!!
And my new job is with the Government - so I never have to work hard again!
HOORAY!!
They are 4 sensational titles this week.
I am definately in this week - not only am I off work - but I have the house to myself for 4 days while wife and daughter go to Sydney.
I am also interested in possible collaborations this week - I'll come up with some ideas and send PM's soon (or alternatively - if anyone wants to do something - let me know)
HIP HIP HOORAY!!

And in other news, I never put Sarah Vowell together with the strangely obsessed lady from Gigantic until I saw her glossy.
And then I listened to the song they did together, and "Gallows Hill" made more sense, too.

I've met Sarah Vowell. She guest-taught for a couple of days at my arts school senior year of high school.
For the unversed, Sarah Vowell's motto, as in her essay "God Will Give You Blood to Drink in a Souvenir Shot Glass," is that whatever situation you're in,
it could be worse.
Gallows Hill and Andersonville
It could be, could be worse.
At a reading the following night, she amended to the end of that essay that she'd thought of another example of a situation worse than hers: Pol Pot. "Whenever I feel like things are getting really awful, I ask myself this question, 'Whatever you’ve done, are there piles of skulls?' And most of the time, the answer is 'no.'" She's probably used those exact words at a million readings and interviews by now, but it got a huge laugh that night.
If ever there were a week to use all the titles in one song, this would be it. Not that I was planning on fighting this week anyway, but yeah. Good job, Deep Throat.

7/8 groove is in the house. I'll be using the acoustic bass this week. Also, I definitely need to get my MIDI set up, so that I can put B4 to work. Fear the Hammond.

The Cow Exchange will have the Brioche, unless I eat it. Maybe both, if you let me.

Bad news brewing on the eleven-minute-long sit-on-the-couch-and-get-baked blood-drinking extravaganza front! Y'all been warned.

Why?
I have gallows pole stuck in my head, which is all good by me, and I'm trying to write blues as if it wes invented in 15 century England, I guess we're thinking about the same...

Me too - maybe we should collaborate on a Glee?

I have another project that I would like to do. One that involves attempting to impress a lady.

I would be up for a collab. I can provide the following:
- Rhythm guitar (lead if you like blues scale noodling)
- Bass
- Vocals (Cash-style crooning a speciality)
- Backing vocals
- Basic keyboards
- Drum loops
PM me if you're interested.
Andy
P.S. I guess this should really be in the Collab thread, but what the hey

I too offer my skills (songwriting/words/arranging are my strengths. Relentless enthusiasm a speciality.) PM me if you fancy a threesome ... err ... a trio ... errr a collab!

I've got one started for Gallows Hill. It'll probably be my last SongFight entry, so anyone who's been itching to beat me into submission better jump in the ring this week.

Never say Last... just say you are taking a break or something for a while. You can always come back...

Well I'm a little bummed about that. But I understand that major record labels would most certainly frown upon one of their artists writing songs and sending them into songfight.
However, one may still submit only their second-rate material, under the cover of a phoney name...

Don't colaborate with me! I have enough trouble trying to work out what I'm doing, some way down the line maybe eh, when I've more of a clue how to record? We'll make this a week for dark folkyness strained through centuries of pagan wisdom, or genaric pap with not many chords, hmmm....
